V-Tech phone for the win!
Love this phonel! Nice updated look, bright display. Easy to program features and add frequently dialed numbers to directory! Perfect landline phone. Decided to mount the phone base on the wall, less clutter on the kitchen countertop. Looks great!

For the price, it's a very effective cordless phone, but they are consider
I wanted to add a plug-in cordless phone to our home. The vtech was very inexpensive and offered all the features I needed. However, it was noticeable compared to our older uniden that corners were cut. The display is slower and a bit more washed out. The keys don't have the same quality tactile feel. on the positive side, this is quite a bit lighter, the voice quality is excellent and uses DECT technology. I THINK IF YOU JUST WANT A BASIC WIRELESS PHONE AND ARE NOT ADDING IT TO ANOTHER SYSTEM, THIS IS A GOOD BUDGET CHOICE

The ring is loud ☎️
The ring is loud, but it is OK ~ the answering machine of the unit works like you work at Bell Telephone - that is what I want in a land line - the answering machine......

Close To The Original CS6114-2 But Not An Exact Match
My old VTech DECT 6.0 Cordless phone got sticky keys thanks to a lot of use. When I tried to clean under the keys one of them popped off and unlike computer keys, phone keys don't just snap back in. So....I had to quickly get a replacement since I rely on that phone to attend work conference calls every week.I was pleased to see the same model number CS6114 being offered on Amazon for a very low price. With my free 2-day Prime shipping, I thought it was perfect. Then I got the phone. Now, let me begin by clarifying that the phone is exactly how it is advertised and portrayed. So the small issues I have with it are really my own oversight. Also, buying items online without actually handling them is always a risk. The phone I am replacing has a smooth, shiny finish and more importantly; it has two indicator lights. One on the handset that tells you when it's charging and another on the base to tell you the phone is in use.The phone I am now reviewing has a rough finish and NO indicator lights. The reason the lights are a big deal to me is because I can't tell you how many times someone in my household has hurriedly placed the phone back on the base incorrectly so it didn't charge. The only reason I could correct the issue is because the light would be off even though I would see the handset presumably on the base. I would get up, walk across the living room and set it properly back until the light blinked on to indicate the handset was now charging. The light on the base that indicates the phone in use tells me that someone (usually my husband) was using the handset in another part of the house. This was useful for me if I got up and began looking around the living room for it but seeing the light told me that I could sit back down and just wait my turn. The rough finish of this newer phone is just kinda annoying but nothing that I can't live with. They can keep the rough finish but at least give me my lights back! So, there ya go. It's a cheap phone. It works well (the last one worked for a few years and probably still has many more years of life left in it if not for the sticky buttons which were my fault.) But if you, like me, are looking for the original CS6114 with the indication lights and smooth finish...this isn't the same one.Edited to Add: The original one with the indicator lights is actually model # CS6114-2 which appears to be difficult to find for sale anywhere right now. Not even Vtech's own website has it for sale, though you can see they still sell its accessories.

Inferior audio recording quality
I bought this VTech answering system from Amazon to replace my old General Electric 29869 unit, which finally broke down in 2019 after serving me well for about twenty years. It was a mistake.I had no intention of using the handset – the VTech VA17241BK was to be used on a split line with a Panasonic KX-TS880 landline phone. My only interests in it were to be able to screen incoming phone calls and record those that I missed.I had no major problem with the way the VA17241BK screened my incoming calls – its speaker audio was clear enough to understand. My only complaint in this regard is that it didn't quite go loud enough. However, I had major problems with the way the VA17241BK played back recorded calls. The audio quality of the built-in memory on the unit is very poor. Examples: a caller left a message for me with a phone number to call her back at, but one of the digits in it was impossible to understand clearly. A different caller left me a different message where her name sounded like it was “Brock”, but when I spoke to her later it was actually “Brooke.” This is the kind of message recording audio quality you can expect from the VA17241BK.I discovered this major defect too late to be able to return my VA17241BK to Amazon for a refund – I had mistakenly thought the substandard audio quality was due to either poor landline phone connections or wireless signals from callers that very briefly dropped out of receiving range. A quick phone call from another landline number very close to my own finally showed me where the real problem was: the VA17241BK itself. There was a time when audio memory was very limited (and very expensive) in solid-state technology, but that was long ago. If General Electric could do it right back in 1999 with their 29869 phone answering system (and they did), why can’t VTech do it right with theirs in 2019? What good is an answering machine if you can’t understand at least part of the messages its callers leave on it?Summary: buy the VTech VA17241BK at your own risk.
