Very serious, very well made, very very sturdy... a true professional light stand
The media could not be loaded. At around £100 I hoped that this stand would be more substantial than some of my lesser-priced stands. Well, it certainly is! The weight of the parcel gave me a clue - a substantial 'something' was obviously enclosed within. There are not all that many 'parts' in the box. Basically you get the triple fold-out supporting legs, the main centre pole with telescopic sections, two boom arm brackets, a boom arm, a user manual and a sand-bag should you need extra stability. Every single part of the kit is tremendously well made and engineered in high quality Stainless Steel and other metals. The tightening levers are huge and very easy to operate. Without a shadow of a double this is the type of light stand you might see in a top-professional photographic studio. Very impressive indeed... and, when evaluating the quality of what you are getting, the price is actually, in my opinion, exceptional value for money. The photo stand is supported by a foldable triple-leg system. This again is superbly engineered and also has the added feature of being able to adjust the spread angle of the feet. This allows some flexibility if trying to avoid items on the floor etc. A little care is needed if you are not extending the angles of the legs to the full 'tripod' position, but having the feature is still potentially very useful. The ends of the three legs have well formed angled rubber feet. The legs are made in good grade Stainless Steel and the hinged joints feel reliably strong. The telescopic centre pole follows the same sturdiness of build and materials as the legs. A grippy dense foam sleeve helps to grip when adjusting the centre pole length. The sections have internal springs to buffer/dampen the shock of dropping the height of the extension poles. The boom arm is the thinnest pole but it's still incredibly strong and should easily support even the heaviest of lighting gear. The boom also has 1/4" & 3/8" threads. Two 'grip-heads' are provided and each one can take 15mm, 12mm, 7mm & 4mm poles so any accessory should be catered for. The angle-locking system on the grip heads is very well executed with a sturdy tooth-engaging circumference... there will be no slipping of any photographic gear once you have secured the grip heads. Excellent design. There's not a lot more I can say. The MSKIRA product exceeded my expectations and I think that any professional or keen amateur photographer/videographer would be very very pleased with the equipment. It easily gets a 5-Star rating for a truly impressive piece of kit!

Substantial piece of equipment!
Wow. I was not expecting this level of robust quality. This apparatus fits the sales description better than I hoped it would. Heavy Duty indeed and versatile too. This can accommodate a wide variety of photography devices including cameras, umbrellas, lights additional booms, microphones. The tubing is strong and capable, I'd happily use heavy super clamps on it to support numerous other accessories. I'm more than impressed with it. It's not something I'd want to carry round on a long hike to a site along with my camera, but my goodness this is a lovely bit of kit in my opinion.
