not 16AWG more like 20-22AWG
cable received is not 16AWG although marked as 16G on the wire. The resistance for 3.75 feet measured 0.06ohms with a 300mv voltdrop @ 3.95amps so seems i received cable in the realms of 20-22AWG.

Useful for many different applications.
Described as CCA Automotive Electrical Wire this 16 AWG Cable would normally be used in Cars etc.It can of course be used in other Low Voltage applications but not for Mains Voltage as it's unsuitable for High Voltage.I shall be using mine for Battery Powered Equip. and Vintage Radio gear.Just for clarity this Cable is described as being 100ft but that is 50ft + 50ft which is a rather odd way of saying it but whatever, decent enough Wire in a good length.

Red & black 2-core CCA based cable, works fine, not cheap enough compared to 18awg copper
This bundle of cable arrived in a sealed clear plastic pouch, neatly coiled and held that way with a few metal twist ties. The wire itself is exactly as they have described it, it’s a pair of wires with connected red/black insulation around a stranded core for each wire that’s made up of a bunch of copper plated aluminium. Both wires are easy to strip and separate from each other as needed and the construction and quality of insulation and the stranded cores is uniform in the several metres I've used and tested so far.I’m firmly in the camp of just buying tinned copper core cable for pretty much everything these days with whatever insulation & strand count best suits the application, it’s really not much more expensive and when you’re pulling up a bunch of carpet and other stuff to run the wires, using decent stuff and doing the job once is a no-brainer to me. Especially if you’re strapped for space, as you’ll often have to go to a thicker gauge wire when using CCA to account for the extra resistance compared to copper or tinned copper. You’ll absolutely be able to use this for low voltage & low current systems if you stay within the limitations of the cable and on reasonable length runs. The real question is, what are those limitations? The vendor has decided to only share the fact that this is suitable for 12/24v use without any further context, so potential buyers are left in the dark with what the actual limit is. I’ve run it with a couple of amps on short runs for an hour or two, and it seemed to be fine with it, but without destructive testing I couldn’t say what the actual rating for this is.In low current projects, you won’t be able to tell the difference in most applications, including audio systems. I appreciate that the listing is being entirely up-front with the fact that this is CCA though they are hyping it up a bit more than it probably deserves. The only real reason to run CCA based wire is because it’s supposed to be far cheaper. The biggest issue with this for me is that I can easily find 18awg pure or tinned copper cable with PVC insulation on 50ft black/red (100ft total like this) spools for about £14.99. I really don’t see the point in saving 2 quid and settling for CCA in most cases, if it was half the cost, or you were getting a lot more for the price, and you had a large project that needed a lot of cable? Maybe then the saving would make it a decent option, that’s assuming you’re willing to accept the thicker wire and lower durability. It’s alright if you’re willing to work with CCA, it’s not like they’re being misleading with this at all, it’s exactly what they’ve advertised, even if the price is a bit higher than I’d expect or pay.
