Grundfos MQ3-35 96860172 3/4 HP Pressure Booster Pump - 115 Volt

This is a great "all in one" (almost) booster pump. My project was to increase water pressure from the city at 30 psi to 60 psi at the third floor bath. The pump initially boosted pressure to 80-85 psi with jumps to 120 psi. It was necessary to add a pressure regulator after the pump to keep the pressure at a more reasonable 60 psi. The pump kicks in with water flow or a psi lower than 28. It is relatively quiet installed in the garage. The install was fairly easy and completed in about an hour. Most of that time was spent in mounting the pump to the floor.

Have used for 6 months. No issues. I used it mainly for my lawn watering. For the 6 months I used it my water bill was double the normal which indicates the pump is performing as expected. I also have pressure gauge installed on the plumbing to make sure the pressure does not go past 80/90 PSI. For the off season I just unplug it. Last but not least the price I paid on Amazon is at least 30% cheaper than local options.

Broke down within a few weeks after being professionally installed by a local Plumbing Contractor. Manufacturer/Distribitor wouldn't stand behind it. Amazon Protection Plan wouldn't stand behind it. Plumbers would stand behind it. Got the runaround for weeks trying to get anyone to take responsibility. Finally gave up...

I had already used the same pump to boost house pressure from 40 pounds at one faucet to a consistent 70 pounds throughout the house, so this pump was a replacement for one that ran consistently for 11 years. With this pump we can simultaneously run the shower, washing machine, and dishwasher. Before the pump you would run screaming from the shower if someone flushed the toilet. I was very disappointed when Grundfos stopped making this pump, so I was very happy to find a new one through an Amazon store. This pump is incredibly easy to install and its built-in auto reset feature means it's virtually maintenance free. There's no other pump like it!

Great pump for residential installation. We installed directly in our kitchen in our small cabin (needed to operate propane powered tankless heater) and it works very well. It's a little noisy maybe, but really not bad. I will probably build a small enclosure with some sound insulation for it. Most people will likely install in basement or outside (if in warmer climates). Brings our water pressure up from about 20 to 55 psi (adjustable, can go higher or lower).

Bought this to replace the same model. That one lasted for 10 years under light use. It does the job. It's a shame that repair parts are not available. If you need a pump that will be on frequently, I suggest you spend the money for a better one. For light and infrequent use, this is fine. I use this pump at my vacation home.

I used the Grundfos as an auxiliary pump tomy 1hp 100' away at the storage tank.With use of hose fittings and a prv/gaugekit I am able to connect to a hose bib next tothe house and use this as a back up. The Grundfosprovides much higher flow rate and pressure thanwith the existing.
