The best mechanical pencil brand you've never heard of
I'm a professional designer and illustrator. I've used mechanical pencils for decades from all major brands from the basic ones to the very expensive ones.I was looking for a 0.9mm mechanical pencil replacement and came across Kokuyo Enpitsu Mechanical Pencil pencils by chance.Never heard about this brand before but Japanese mechanical pencils tend to be really well-made and reasonably priced.I decided to try this brand and don't regret it at all. The mechanical pencil is very well made, extremely comfortable to use for long writing sessions and has a nice minimalist and elegant design. This pencil has been designed with simplicity and comfort in mind. There's nothing unnecessary about it, but everything you need for a good writing and sketching experience is there. It's probably better suited as a desk pencil to keep at home than a carry everywhere pencil as there's no pocket clip and the nice smooth finish might get easily scratched if carried around too much. It's now my number one day-to-day note-taking mechanical desk pencil. Highly recommended.

It's a pencil with a thick nib. That's not a euphemism.

Not for me
1.3mm is too thick to use when blunt, and, unlike the 2mm leads, there is no lead pointer available for 1.3mm leads.

Love these pencils because as a carpenter I find them simple, sturdy, well made and easy to use. I don't have the inconvenience of having to sharpen them, having to find a knife or pencil sharpener when the graphite snaps. Just push the button and your in business. At 1.3mm they are the best of both worlds - not too thin that you snap them all the time and not too thick a line for accurate marking out. Previously bought 2x Staedtler 1.3mm and one fell apart and the other broke so bought one of these. I have bought 4 of these now to have in convenient places like tool box, van etc. Also cheapest I could find on the net.

nice to hold and use
These are lovely to hold and use for sketching and drawing. No clip to get in the way. Soft touch. Triangular shape a real hit. Original leads very expensive, but others fit.

Japanese Brands are far superior
I admit I love pencils. I’ve tried allKinds of brands but for me the Kokuyo Enpitsu are the best. They are comfortable, and reliable. The grip is just soft enough to keep it from slipping in hand but not so spongy that it feels awkward. In general Japanese mechanical pencils work better. I have given this one to my 11 yr old and honestly seen an improvement in his handwriting. I think it’s the triangular shape. It fits his hand better.

Portamine 0.9 davvero ottimo
Portamine da 0.9 molto leggero e comodo da utilizzare grazie anche alla sua particolare forma non conica come tutti gli altri. Dopo mesi di utilizzo intenso é ancira perfettamente funzionante. Prodotto consigliato 💪

Simplicity is its essence
A very minimalist pencil for long writing sessions. No clips, no erasers to remove when refilling leads, no removable parts. Its triangular shape is comfortable to hold. The lead sleeve can be retracted completely when not in use. This thoughtfully-designed pencil is my number one writing tool.If you keep them on the desk, they are a cheaper, refillable and environment-friendly alternative of your regular ballpoint pens and excellent for writing notes and drafts or for sketching.Camlin Hi-par 0.9 mm leads or leads of any brand of the same size will work well with it and you will find that breaking of leads is not a problem when thicker leads of 0.9 mm diameter are used. A single pencil should last a long time and will obviate the need of buying ballpoint pens too frequently. You need not worry about buying refills of the same brand as long as your lead refills are of the same size. That is one more reason why I find them much more convenient than ballpoint or gel pens. Use them and you will see the difference. Recommend mechanical pencils to your children and do your bit in saving our earth from plastic pollution.1.3 mm pencil leads are not easily available or expensive. The best and cheapest option for Indian consumers is ADD GEL 1.3 mm bold lead.

Excellent pencil
A quality item. The point is retractable so if you want to carry it in a pocket; there is no risk of damaging the clothing. It easily holds five or six pieces of lead. My only suggestion would be to add a clip for users who want to put it in their shirt pocket. Well worth the price.
