The Neat scanner and document management software are just what I need for my accounting business. The scanner performs wonderfully for any size documents and cash register tape and is the fastest device for the price. The document software performs editing and digitizing and classifications automatically which becomes searchable either locally or over the net. The software includes a searchable SQL Server style database which is mirrored in the cloud and expands automatically to fit your requirements. Call support service is excellent and very professional. What few problems that I had implementing the system were fixed quickly using phone support and excellent support software. I had to use the support service twice during implementation and both Jenefel and Dolly support staff engineers were highly skilled and very professional.

Should Amazon be handling these units given thier marketing behavior?
I bought the unit in May 2015. My "issue" is bet described by another user {see below] have the same problem... I've used it just fine w/o their now-mandatory "cloud" service. Starting April 1, 2016 every time if go to enter data: [quote} it now asks me to "sign in to initiate sync" and I have to hit "cancel." If you are a new customer thinking about purchasing the NeatReceipts scanner and software, I highly recommend researching other options.{unquote and concur]PER Aaron of Toronto, ON on April 9, 2016Like many I have used NeatReceipts to file my receipts for more than 4 years. I have tens of thousands of receipts scanned for business and personal use. Neat has decided to eliminate their desktop software and FORCE all users to subscribe to their cloud service. If you are a new user, this is not a problem -- you simply find another scanner/software solution. If you are an existing user who has invested hundreds of hours scanning into their software (and destroying the old receipts), you are pretty much screwed.I don't want all my personal and confidential receipts being uploaded to the cloud. I use my NeatReceipts software very often without internet connectivity, which is no longer an option. I don't trust the NeatReceipts "sync." I would rather back up the .nwdb files locally. I have had to reinstall Neat and restore the databases and have never had a problem doing it this way. Neat support is pretty much non-existent.This is simply a cash grab and it should not be legal, especially for existing users. Neat management needs to take a close look at what they have done and correct this mistake. It is shameful that Neat cannot even admit they are just trying to bilk existing, loyal customers. Instead they say stuff like the new cloud service "allows for streamlined operations on all platforms." That's great. I don't need streamlining across all platforms.Luckily I have a backup of the Neat 5.7 software and will continue to use the desktop software. Unfortunately, every time I turn it on, it now asks me to "sign in to initiate sync" and I have to hit "cancel." If you are a new customer thinking about purchasing the NeatReceipts scanner and software, I highly recommend researching other options.

I would recommend this machine if your intention is to get rid ...
The machine runs the various documents quickly, but the information is often incorrect so I have to check everything before throwing my copy away. This means I have to spend more time than I would ordinarily as I check all my receipts. I run into trouble when my receipt is more the size of a document. Much of the pre-programming in not helpful and often an inconvenience when I'm trying to extract information for a separate report. I have several crashes a day when using the scanner, however the information prior to the crash is saved most of the time. I put everything into my dropbox which saves copies much faster then going through Cloud. So far, the only convenience of Cloud is for email which I prefer to separate from the filing and scanning operations. I would recommend this machine if your intention is to get rid of unnecessary paper clutter. But plan on it taking much more time than the advertisement states as the machine tries to learn and correct some of it's misreadings. This is not a fast process. Don't throw away all your papers just yet!

A nice piece of equipment, but watch out for all the "add-on" services!
I'm still getting to know this thing! The scans I have done have come out well, even though a couple of times the software couldn't figure out what the vendor name was, but I would expect that to happen from time to time. And I like that there are different sizes of slots for different types of documents and business cards/receipts. The machine pulls the receipt through smoothly and then it has to "think" about what it has scanned for a few seconds before you get the analysis of what you scanned. Even with that, it works a thousand percent better than the "hand held portable" scanner I bought a few years back, which I never got a good scan from, probably because I have permanently shaky hands. If this scanner continues to work well, then I will be happy with my purchase. I need to work with it some more before I know what it's truly capable of, once I have time, but it seems like it works as advertised. I purchased it at Christmas time and have done limited scanning on it, which seems to work well. The company does want you to sign up for all kinds of monthly programs (for their Cloud service, for "Support", and for some kind of program that "makes sure your scans come out perfectly), all of which I think are needless. My thoughts are that if they can't support their own product for a reasonable length of time, and if I need to buy a "service" to make sure my scans come out legibly, then I bought the wrong product from the wrong people. So be aware of that and read the online reviews for this company before you sink your money into this piece of equipment. Other than the badgering to buy all of their "services", I am reasonably satisfied with this scanner so far. I am not one to write less than stellar reviews (unless totally justified), but the pushy add-on programs took away some of my satisfaction (read: one star) at finally getting one of these scanners.
