Great piece of kit -- unexpectedly light and simple to use
I knew that V flats could be useful but held back for two reasons. The DIY build process seemed to have a lot of steps for someone who isn't very gifted in the craft department. And storage of large pieces of gator board posed a problem. Being able to get pre made flats which folded addressed both problems so I gave it a try.I only got these yesterday but I already know they are great. First, they are absolutely dead simple to use. Just pull them out of the box, fold them up, attach them with the velcro, and they're ready to go (a Youtube video made them look more complex than they are). Second, they are incredibly light. I didn't expect them to be heavy but they were far lighter than I expected. This is important because it means they are super portable and maneuverable. Piece of cake to get them up, move them where you want them, or change the configuration. When you're finished you can just fold them, put them in the bag, and store them (mine went under the stairs). In fact my only criticism -- and it's minor -- is the bag could be an inch wider so it would be easier to get them in (wasn't a huge problem as is) and that the handles would be shorter. The handles work fine but they extend the bag a foot or so, making it impossible for anyone less than eight feet tall to easily walk when holding the handles (I'm over six feet and it's not close). Of course these are total quibbles. The bag even with two is so light I can easily lift it over my head, and it's not a problem getting them back into the bag (no doubt some experience will make it easier). Just some suggestions for making the bag a wee deeper and having the handles attach on the side.If you do lighting, especially in a home studio but pretty much anywhere including on location (folded down they should fit in most vehicles), these are a great buy and well worth the price. These don't cost a lot more than two good standard light stands, a support bar, and two rolls of seamless paper, but they are far more versatile. If you're on the fence go ahead and order. I think you'll be very happy with these. A great and super easy to use product.

Love it. Can’t wait to get another one!
I was a little nervous because of the reviews stating they arrived damaged with dents and dings (which often really doesn’t affect its performance, but for $200 it matters). However, mine arrived in pristine condition. They package them really well: with small strips of styrofoam to protect the edges, and two sturdy slabs of cardboard to protect the flat sides, wrapped in plastic, in a huge strong cardboard box. It’s nice it comes with a carrying bag as well.Pro tip: the carrying bag is solid black on one side and great to use for negative fill if you wish you had a second V Flat to use a black side. The test photos I shot with it came out great, and I can’t wait to use this on my next shoot. And every shoot thereafter. They are pricey, but after watching DIY videos on making one, I bit the bullet. The foam core is way thicker on these V Flat World v flats, and it seems pretty durable. I feel like it’s worth it.

Great idea, recommended and can be improved for the next version
The V Flat is a great idea and they do work well. However, mine arrived with creases in the white side and dents in the foam. I decided not to return them since my guess was this happened in transport (how they packed it in the box needs to be improved), and, I can always clone stamp away any issues. It does work very well to bounce/defuse light off and or absorb light (the black side) and as a simple background for portraits & head shots.I do recommend this product, just know that the foam will crease/dent and if any pressure is applied to it. So I give it 3.5 stars and will most likely order another.

Over priced
It is a good product, but the price tag is way too much. First and foremost for such a price tag, this should come with not binds or dents, mine arrive with bends and dents, not enough to warrant a return however. The item is basically 4 pieces of foam core, with black on one side, with what appears to be gaffers tape to create a type of hinge point for folding and to secure in open position with black and white velcro. A person could actually build this portable version easily. Packaging could have been better to protect the investment of 195 dollars a price tag which is so outrageous it should be criminal. This product is only worth about 65 bucks...maybe. using 1 inch form core, you could build your own for less than 65. depending on paint cost. However, the price tag has sold me on the idea of building my own from now on. I can build 2 Flats using the same methods except 2 inch thick for around 130, and they'd be bigger as well a portable. Please don't get me wrong the item is a good item, but the price tag is the reason for the 1 star, I feel this company is ripping off the consumer, and I'll never order another from them again. I am kicking myself for not building my own for the same cost , cause I could be sitting on two much larger, and better built ( Cause I did it myself so care would have been a lot better) V-Flats, that would be sturdier too. Do yourself a favor, watch a vid on how to build your own on YouTube, there are many out there. I was victim of laziness, I learned laziness is not an excuse not to DIY and save yourself some money. In this case a lot of money. Oh and one last thing, there on the back of the V-flat the white side looked like an edge of a shoe print. A little warm cloth with small soap and water and it was gone which is good. Never again.
