A Guide to Deadly Herbs

Good for beginners.
I got this for d&d. To make "poisons" for my character. Lol And I have to say it's actually really interesting for practicality as well. It's black and white photos/drawings. But the plants have descriptions of color, size, and growing season. I plan to go out and find and press some to put in the book itself for reference materials. So I'm very happy with it. It is also very easy to read and understand.

Covers the most deadly plants in North America, but omits many plants that will just make you sick
A very compact and lightweight guide, easily carried when camping or hiking. It covers the most deadly plants found in North America, but omits many plants that will merely make you sick or cause injury. The book uses technical terminology for the descriptions of the plants ("Leaves are ovate with smooth margins"), very helpful if you are familiar with them, but possibly confusing to the novice. The lack of color illustrations or photographs is a serious flaw. Each plant has only line art, though well drawn. The plants are arranged by the color of the flowers, but the only indication of this is in the table of contents. The book appears to be printed on demand; the printing date on my copy was just a few days before I received it.This book could be useful for those who wish to do some foraging while traveling, but as a reference for poisonous plants, there are better options with more entries and full color photographs.

Disappointed 😟
The pictures are not colored on the inside- making it hard to have a proper visual reference. The information is very basic. I will use it more as a coloring book 💁🏻♀️ Cute but not what I would hope for from a book that is supposed to be an identification guide in 2020 ..

A little blah
Nicely laid out but the book is so thin. I read it in under an hour. Lots of things missing, but overall a decent book. Thank you

Disappointed
Wish I would have read reviews first. Its in black and white so unless you color the herbs in yourself its pointless to use as well as its very basic. Not at all what I expected.

Fatal Beauties!
Deadly herbs is a facinating field guide that identifies some of the most beautiful, yet deadliest herbs to occupy both garden and woodland. Believe it or not, each fatal beauty has been used in medicine in centuries past and present. Facinating text, beautifully illustrated.
