Which works better on sooty brick, the paste or the liquid?

You have to dilute it no mater which you use, past or liquid. I prefer the liquid as it blends better when diluting it. It is a concentrate.

Will it work to remove soot from the bricks on the front of the fireplace?

no but Spray Nine will and works awesome on the glass too

Will this product clean the grease off a finished wood table?

What I would use the paste it dose a better job. It will take off the grease but if it is deep in the wood you may have to sand it.

Is it ok for dishwashers

From their website: "To clean out the inside of the dishwasher add 1 tablespoon of QB paste or liquid to bottom of washer basin. Run on the hottest cycle with no dishes. Repeat 2-3 times to completely clean out the inside of dishwasher. DISHES – Add 1 teaspoon of QB paste or liquid to each load of dishes (instead of your regular soap) Wash normally. QB will clean your dishes and rinse clean."
