These volumes are the best and cheapest way to obtain all of this material (and it’s a truckload). It’s really more for Tolkien completionists, but there are things here that will interest any Tolkien fan. Christopher Tolkien has been given a lot of blowback over the years, but it’s hard to imagine the editorial work required to get this out the door. This will please any hardcore Tolkien fan, loads of background material, loads of rough drafts.As far as product delivery status, I think this is kind of pointless. Mine arrived in pristine condition, in shrink wrap etc, but it probably helped that it was shipped to me with two unrelated hardcover books, so the normal Amazon box was a little more filled. It was shipped in a standard cardboard box. Mine arrived completely undamaged, but I can see how someone else’s might have some dings. This seems like luck of the draw.Also, yes the pages are thin, necessarily, but they are not that fragile. I don’t think you need to worry about pages being ripped if you are taking reasonable care.

Love this book set as I'm a huge fan of Tolkien. For the love of god please ship stuff like this in a box. Post office pretty much ripped the top of the case off.Luckily there was no damage to the actual books.

Absolutely wonderful. 4.9/5 stars only due to the fact that 2 pages literally out of the entire set were slightly off (during production) so the sizing is off but overall I couldn't wish for a better outcome glad I finally made the purchase! Thank u! Also I highly recommend you buy before it is out of stock again!!!
