Praise for Zero Sugar Diet “ Zero Sugar Diet targets an easily identifiable enemy, comparing excess sugar in our diet to a deadly virus. . . . Well, that got my attention.” —The New York Times Book Review “A user-friendly guide [that provides] a wealth of helpful information and tools for those wishing to limit added sugars in their diet.” — Library Journal “This plan is informative and entertaining (e.g., a chart converts common meals to their equivalent in donuts; ‘an open letter from your pancreas’) and will help readers rein in cravings and become savvy monitors of added sugar consumption.” — Publishers Weekly Review: I was skeptical but... - I watched the documentary “Fat”, and started to consider there could be some legitimate points about the amount of sugar in our diets. I’m a triathlete, and even at peak training I could rarely get below 200 lbs. After three and half weeks I’ve lost 10 lbs, and sitting comfortably at 190 lbs. I was actually stunned by how many things we eat contain “added sugar”. No wonder we have an obesity epidemic. The beauty of this book is that most (not all) recipes we’ve tried have been really delicious - I highly recommend the Caribbean Beef Stew. I’m usually not a fan of these types of recipe book because things taste weird or very bland, but that’s not the case here. Also, I don’t feel like I’ve radically changed my diet like other things I’ve tried in the past. I’ve simply found great substitutes for products that contain “added sugar”. It’s a lot easier than you think. The knowledge portion of this book is simple and straight to the point. The author doesn’t ramble on to add more pages to the book, but rather provides clear and concise information. I was actually surprised by how quick of a read it was, which helps you spend more time thinking and planning the implementation. I confess, my wife is a critical component of the planning, but once you get started and figure out your go-to “no added sugar” substitutes, it’s easy. You’ll feel better and your cravings are significantly diminished. Give it a try. I was surprised by how quickly we saw results, and I certainly wasn’t starving myself. I highly recommend this book to anyone, and you don’t need to only use recipes from book to see amazing results. Here are some of our favorite recipes so far: Ancho Chicken Tortilla Stew Caribbean Beef Stew Peanut Butter “Cookie Dough” bites Peanut Butter-Banana Oatmeal Smoothies Louisiana-Style Red Beans and Rice Pork Chops w/ Sweet Potatoes and Apples Review: Simple concept to use for each meal and/or each day. - I don't like counting calories, weighing food, measuring etc - this book provides a simple and easier way to make changes in your eating that will improve your health. I can't say the information is anything new - but having it clearly explained and backed with science pulls it all together and allows one to make changes that are realistic for everyday life. I can do this - it is easy and clear while using everyday foods and techniques. I don't want to give away the premise of the book - but when you read it you'll say DUH! What you are getting here is the information pulled together in one place and backed with science. You also get recipes and read some real life stories and examples of how we get unhealthy - and the journey back to health. One interesting part was the example (clearly explained) on how health or weight loss is more than counting calories - delineating how all calories are not equal. I recommend this book for everyone - we all need better health!

Eye opening portrayal of the food industry's tricks to hide sugar content on your local grocery store shelves
Interesting book. Probably could have been summed up in 1/3 of the pages, but it does reference many scientific studies, and really shows you how much sugar the food industry puts in all our food. Its really amazing to try this diet to simply see how much sugar us american intake on a daily basis. I was very addicted to sugar, and I tried the initial phase for 3 weeks, and cut out all added sugars. While I didn't see DRASTIC improvements in my weight or waist size, I did drop 5 lbs from my 205lb frame, and still ate alot of food (without much excercise, which, yes, I know, is critical). Thank the maker that this diet still allow meat, dairy, fruit, and cheese. The main thing I got was how to read nutrition labels, and look for sugar. I'm excited for the new 2018 nutrition labels (required by USA govt) which will SHOW ADDED SUGAR, I assume that many many many companies will reformat their recipes to reduce that number, as it is now staggeringly high This book opened my eyes, and helped me realize how much sugar I was ingesting, and how to drastically decrease that amount. Could it be why america is so obese? I'm sure its a huge culprit. One of the only CONS that I noticed, was that it referenced their website to get more recipes, and more recommendations of what "processed" food is safe, but upon visiting the website (and even emailing them without a response) , there is ZERO content to be found. Just more adverts for their other books. My meals have been transformed into healthier fare, and i cut out ALOT of the crap that I thought was somewhat healthy Buy this book, try the diet, and peel back the deceit that the food industry used to disguise sugar in EVERYTHING

Easy Formula for Weight loss
If you follow the principles in this book it works. It is a high fiber/ no added sugar diet. After the two week detox just make sure your eating more fiber than sugar. This book is more of a lifestyle change. I have never been considered overweight but I gained 5 lbs after my first child that never went away. After my second was born another 5 lbs stuck around. Most of the weight was around my middle and was limiting what I was comfortable wearing. A few years ago I tried the 21 fix diet and I did lose weight...but it was only temporary. So a year ago I joined a gym and started working out twice a week with a trainer. I would get body scans and was told that I was gaining muscle and losing weight but my body never looked different. I still had the weight around the middle. After the holidays in 2019 I decided to get motivated and do "Dry January" with a diet program. I started watching documentaries on Amazon to get motivated. I watched "Fed Up" and "That Sugar Film" and it was really eye opening. I never realized how much added sugar was in so many different foods I was eating. I started looking for diet books that were low sugar and I stumbled upon this one. I picked a few of the recipes in the book instead of eating the suggested diet day by day. For breakfast I would typically have the Chocolate Vanilla Oatmeal or the Breakfast Burrito. For lunch I would have a Turkey Sandwich. I added more variety with the dinners. I would have the whole wheat pizza with chicken and asparagus, Pork Tenderloin with broccoli and cauliflower, Steak with Bulgur, Green Bean and Asparagus, Chicken Kebabs etc. The diet is blander than I am used to but I used red pepper flakes to spice it up. I did the detox diet for two weeks and lost 6 pounds. For reference I am 5'2" and my starting weight was 124 lbs. Most of the weight I lost was in my middle. After two weeks I added alcohol back into my weekend routine and also tried to adhere to the dieting principles. It's been 4 months now and I have lost a total of 9 pounds. The weight has stayed off and I'm still slowly losing. I also stopped going to the gym so my weight loss is mainly from dieting. I did go through sugar withdrawal about a week into the diet. I had a terrible headache but it lasted only for one day. Small price to pay for losing the weight! It is eye opening the amount of sugar being added to our foods. From breads to pasta sauce to smoothies it is astounding! I was sabotaging myself without even realizing it. This book puts you on the right path for weight loss and it easily becomes a lifestyle change once you realize how bad sugar is for your body.

Great recipes. Need to keep the momentum.
The recipes were great. I didn't get along with the avocados. They made me bloat which did eventually went away. It was inspiring and frankly hard to eat all of those vegetables. My husband could have continued. I fell out. I tried the spaghetti squash with marinara sauce From meijers. Really enjoyed it. We will give it another run. My husband enjoyed the breakfasts. Very filling. Also I would change it include dairy that's low-fat. Also members almond soy milk in the milk area is cheaper and lasts along time in shakes.

A practical plan to fight pre diabetes.
When my doctor told me my blood sugar was "a little high," I started doing some research and found that the number he called "a little high" actually meant I had pre-diabetes, which basically means I am most likely going to develop type 2 diabetes. Why wasn't he more concerned and adamant that I change my diet? I was shocked. So I started reading all I could about how to lower my blood sugar. This book is the only one that gave me an easy-to-follow, practical plan to put into practice. And it opened my eyes to the added sugars that are put into almost everything I eat. I thought I was doing my health a favor by eating oatmeal every morning. But I learned that my instant oatmeal is loaded with added sugars and all the carbs can spike my blood sugar, causing fat storage and more cravings. If you want to understand how food affects your body, get this book. It'll change the way you think about food.

Awesome easy recipes, great read
not a single failed recipe in this book. My husband does not yet notice he is on a diet! He loves every recipe and he normally picks up on "diet food" I covered the book with another sleeve, so he does not see the title. And i honestly notice his belly losing that round ball shape. I have the zero belly diet book, and he loved all those recipes too. And the recipes are fast, simple, and loaded with fresh veggies, and easy for me to sub the flesh for plant protein for myself, being vegan. I do wish they would put out a vegetarian cookbook! But easy to swap, and the author is fond of inserting plant protein into his diet plan. And of course it is written well, and fun, with pop culture references, and a bit of a corny type humor, I chuckled a few times. And, they put pictures of most of the finished dishes, which I love

26 pounds in 14 weeks - It works
Slow and steady, but effective and healthy. Learned to make better choices and got pay off faster than I thought possible. Needed to lose belly weight in order to donate a kidney, but needed to do it in a very healthy way. Had trouble at first identifying foods I wanted to eat that had sufficient soluble fiber content but resolved that when I found microwave-baked small sweet potatoes (skin and all) and black bean products from the healthfood section of the freezer. Although I found it on my own, two pro nutritionists have reviewed my daily routines and blessed this diet, and it's one I think I can live on and modify when I finally meet my goal. I like having the 'whys' (scientific explanations of digestive and metabolic processes) and 'what' to do. The lists at the back are helpful for shopping, especially at the beginning when trying to establish a new routine. The recipes are not wonderful, but give you enough to get started. I found it easiest to follow when I discovered Spark People, a free nutrition tracking app and website, and combined that with the Spark Recipes free app which lets me input ingredients and then it calculates the nutrients and ports all across to Spark People. Added 1-time premium fee to that to get helpful analytics. Also learned I don't estimate well, so had to begin weighing and measuring portions until I got that well down. Now I have a do-able diet, good tracking tools and I have confidence that the Zero Sugar-added diet is going to continue working for me.

Delicious homemade meals.
These are the kind of meals you can expect from this book, yep, healthy, homemade meals. Depending on your lifestyle, some people would have to make some adjustments. But well worth it.
