Life changing. Future changing. Future me will be eternally grateful!
It's not a get-rich-quick book (can't stand 'em). It doesn't sell anything (can't stand ads masquerading as books). A friend passionately recommended it. He was right. It has changed my life. Wish I had this knowledge 20 years ago. Thankful to have it now. And most importantly, thankful to have the opportunity to teach the powerful principles contained within to our children.Investing shouldn't be difficult. It shouldn't be mystical. And this book proves it. I've gone 40+ years not having much of a clue about investing. That fact alone has cost me literally hundreds of thousands of dollars for my 70+ year old self. But this book will help my 70-year-old me breathe a little easier financially, and for that I'm grateful. It's not the Bible. But it is now only the second book in my lifetime that I recommend everyone should read (and that's saying a lot, seeing as I have one of my own out there).

A vision for wealth building for the working/middle class
I heard about this book from an appearance of Hallam on the Afford Anything podcast. I'm far from a professional investor, and work in around the same salary bracket as the kind of life he described as a teacher. I'm interested in personal finance, but many finance books I've perused seem bent on selling you some path of real estate investing, playing the stocks or using complex methodologies to gamble your way into "maximized returns", none of which I'm really interested in. Hallam's book laid out very easily another path that I could see in my own life without having to become some sort of money guru. I'd definitely recommend this book if you want to set up for a smart future in the long term and you're not looking to be swayed by immediate dollar signs or fast talking dealmaking.

From ignorant to empowered
I’m devouring this book! I have been ignorant about investment matters for far too long because I’ve been intimidated, thinking it’s over my head. Andrew makes it so easy to understand. I love his analogies in particular. They really allow you to put it into context. As a 38 yo stay at home mom, this book has made me feel empowered to look more closely at our family’s portfolio and made educated decisions. Thanks Andrew!

Easy Read, Simple Advice to Follow
I really enjoyed this book. It's a easy read for those who don't love financial terms, and I believe the advice is easy enough for anyone to follow. After years of reading many financial books, this book sums up the advice of many other books considered to be pillars of the financial world. The advice is straight forward and it is coming from someone who has done it himself. He isn't a stock broker. He isn't a guy trying to sell you stocks where he makes a commission. Andrew is just a regular guy, with a pretty average salary and he was able to retire early. Whether you are 18 or 40, now is the time to follow this sage advice! Then go forth and spread the word to every child turning into an adult. Help others also retire gracefully too.

Great Book for someone who doesn't think he knows a lot about finances
I've worked as an investment advisor and have a degree in economics. I bought this after reading the library copy so I could underline parts and give it to my wife. So that if something happens to me she can use it as a reference if she has to do our finances without my input.

Fantastic read
There is no economics jargon and very readable. I didn't want to stop reading, I think I finished it in less than 3-4 sittings. Very educational and gives you different perspective on investment.Don't waste time reading financial news about individual companies...don't gamble...read this book.

Game changer
I never leave reviews on Amazon but I had to give this book the praise it deserves. I enjoyed every chapter which made it easy to understand and learn the masses of knowledge it contains! I have previously bought books about the stock market and had to abandon due to them being boring, dull to read with no character and big jargon. As a 22-year old this book was so informative and entertaining to read, it has taught me more about wealth than my 17 years in education.Andrew Hallam, you have changed my life through sharing your knowledge - I wish you the best in life, thank you!

Nothing original
Gave up half way through. This is just well known common sense, no special financial insight.

Investing is important
I found the first half of this book engaging and it makes you realise the importance of investing particularly from a young age.I struggled to maintain my interest in the second half so just skipped sections to read the need to know segments.

A dummies guide to investing!!!
A fantastic and very clear and concise introduction to investing!! For someone who has seen many people have a go at investing only for it to crash and burn in their faces, I was very skeptical about investing in particular in the stock market. However this book has demystified so many concerns. It is an easy read with many practical tips and examples!

Too long, filled with fluff.
This book is anything but concise. The real content could probably be communicated with about 10% of the number of pages. Hallam tends to repeat the same point over and over again. He also tends to spend a lot of time with fluff sentences that don't really advance the point he's trying to make - e.g. by providing explanations or arguments.Much of Hallam's advice is argued by appealing to the fact that someone famous said it or someone who was financially successful said it - that is not a reason to think that that advice is true. Hallam's book is littered with quotes of conclusions of other people. They outweigh the number of actual explanations or arguments.I wouldn't recommend this book.
