I purchased this brush to help tame my daughter's very thick, very wavy, very long hair. I've owned several detangling brushes and this one has become my hands down favorite by far. The short of this review is that this brush effectively detangles long, thick, wavy hair whether it is wet or dry with minimal hair breakage and minimal yanking. It's built well and has long and strong bristles./***** Build Quality *****/This brush is built very well and feels solid in your hand but is very light weight. I am a man with relatively small hands and this brush is very easy to grip. I have found that when trying to comb through some particularly matted areas, it isn't strange for me to lose the brush. Otherwise, though, it sits well in the hand and doesn't get dropped often. The bristles are pretty sturdy/strong but have enough give in them to make for an effective detangle. After nearly 2 months of of twice a day use, I cannot see a single broken bristle and there is no visible wear to the brush./***** Effectiveness *****/The performance of the brush itself is stellar. Every detangling brush I have used in the past has struggled with my daughter's long, wavy, thick hair and required me to thoroughly wet or detangle spray the hair in order to work even semi-effectively. This brush has no such issues and I am able to detangle even dry hair thoroughly. It is also important to note that this brush manages to work very well with little to no tugging. My daughter is able to sit through an entire combing sessions without getting her hair yanked, which makes us both happy./***** Conclusion *****/This is absolutely the best detangling brush/comb/product that I have ever used. My only minor gripe is that the handle is a tiny little bit big, but this isn't enough for me to remove a star and it's definitely not a big deal overall. I would highly recommend this product to anybody because if this works on my daughter's hair, it'll work on anybody's hair!

Smooth! Works great on all hair types! My 4-year-old has very long, mostly straight hair. She has a sensory disorder and cannot stand hair brushing. Her long hair tangled easily and she screams through hair washing and brushing. This brush limited her screaming about 90%! I brushed one half of her head with a regular paddle brush, and the other half with this, and the difference was uncanny. She clearly preferred this brush, and I could barely feel any tangled catching on the brush like they did with the regular paddle brush. I have used this on said 4-year-old’s hair, my other 3 children’s loose to super tight curls, and on my own slightly wavy 3-foot-long hair. I’ve used it on each of our hair with and without detangler, and it still performs much better than all of our other brushes and combs. Highly recommend for any hair type!

I was debating between this and another product and I bought this one because it was shiny and non-brush looking. My 3 year old daughter runs screaming from any type of brush. Up to now I've been limited to using a pink pick to de-tangle her long, curly-at-the-ends hair. I made the right choice. It's non-traditional shape and shiny color really got her attention. I called it a magic brush to help get the knots out easily. I let her use it on herself a little, she liked it. I let her play with it a bit, showing her new magic brush to her older brother. Then, the next day I tested it! I sat her in front of spongebob (the usual) and told her I was going to use the magic brush. Sure enough, the Knot Genie worked like magic. It got tough knots and rats out that usually took forever and induced crying and screaming. Not only was it gentle on her hair, it worked quickly, and I think she actually liked the feel of the brush on her scalp. No tears, no screams, no fighting....it was the first peaceful, quick, hair-brushing experience I've had with my daughter. If you're looking for "magic" to brush out knotty hair...the Knot Genie is the one!! Very happy with this product, and so is my daughter.

I bought this in hopes that it would help ease the pain & knots that my daughter's thick hair gets. I got to say this is best brush yet! It definitely does it's job & gets the knots out & she doesn't complain & actually wants to brush her hair...lol, that sounds bad however we always brush her hair...but this makes it so much easier! Her therapist actually recommended & glad we decided to give it a try!!

I have two daughters, works great for my youngest. It is now her new favorite brush and it is easier for her to use then other brushes. My oldest daughter has thicker hair and it doesn't really work well for her.

I got this for my tender headed neice with long hair. It does work to get the knots out without pulling so hard. However, it is a little rough on the scalp (a little sharp) so be sure not to press down on the scalp when you brush. It also sounds like it is ripping out the hair but I haven't noticed an increase in hair damage. My son likes it because it feels like a scalp massage.UPDATE: This does not work well with really long hair (waist length hair). It gets tangled up in it a little. Love it for short and medium length hair though.

I have had one of these for years for my 12-year-old Maine coon this brand specifically. I bought it for my kids but she took it over when she was like a year old so I’ve bought some for Christmas for my other cats and I know they’ll be just as happy! if I make a sound that I have that brush my Maine coon that’s 12 runs to me, that’s an A+ for me on a product this company makes!

There was no brush that I could use on my Autistic daughter, she would cry and knots continue to form. It wad so intense I would cry, but with this brush she had no cries and the knots would brush away, it’s a miracle brush, she asks me now to brush her hair. Absolutely Loooove it and it works, true Genie.

This brush has completely changed mornings in our house! Used to be torture to brush my daughters waist length hair. Now she can do it herself pain free!
