It is really extraordinary to see some beauties in chess. See, the thing is this. All your life you have your mind set in a certain direction and you think you are doing right. That is, until you find some body else who thinks differently and then you start to watch how they think and you get some feelings of wonder inside yourself. You know, sometimes you are flabbergasted. How could this be? At other times, you laugh aloud. My wife even asks me if there is something the matter with me. She is worried and has hinted I should see a doctor or some one who can help me.And you know what? I believe that that is helping me. It is changing the path of thinking in my mind. I can see new avenues. Well,I say, I have been doing things in life in one direction but life is multidirectional. There are other aspects and perspectives that I should know exist and may be I ought to explore, to venturre out. Maybe I will not conquer but they are there to try. Is not that about chess? What about life. Then I read a book by Nathan Sharansky. Fear no evil. And right at the beginning of the book he mentions that he played chess and you see how he used chess all through the book to stay alive in the Soviet system. He even names the chapters in a chess style. He calls tactics, etc. Is there a transfer from chess into real life? Is it possible to utilize the figures and symbolism of chess in every day situations? I believe so.These are exercises of a mind at work. Then transferred into real life. And we can see and understand Kasparov. He went into politics. He understands his country needs an upgrade into the new century. He opposes Putin. Wow! He is courageous. Lesin started something and now he is dead. Why is Gary still alive? He is a chess player.

Great tactics training!
Great tactician to learn from. One of my favorite players. The book basically showed me that if you have a slight chance of getting out of a bind, look desperately for a move to turn the game to your favor. Also, sacrifice pieces to get the king vulnerable is another thing I learned.

Very lightweight
This "book" is supposed to be in excess of 200 pages, yet it is really only 100 tactical positions from Kasparov's games, each exercise diagram covers one page, and most solutions take up a page, occasionally moving marginally beyond that. Not all of the examples are equally well-chosen, some are very good, some should absolutely not be in collection of this kind, such as his game against Boris Becker. On top of that, there is essentially no text to support the solution or possibly answer why obvious alternate moves are inadequate. This series of "books" are very cheap, but the contents is decidedly lightweight.
