Thanks for the avalanche of curses, spells and charms
He is only 5 years old, our son. But he got spellbound by glimpses of his sister’s repeated Harry Potter and Fantastic Beast viewings. “I want see to Mary Popper or the man in the suitcase again!!” - we hear all the time. Big wizard sister also has a selection of wands to throw spells at her little muggle brother. To provide him with some defence against all this wizardry we went to Amazon’s digital Diagon Alley to equip him with a sturdy, not too pointy young children wand. This gruesome evil wizard wand intially hit the right spot as he already has a fascination with bones and skulls. However in reality its the type of toy kids would win as a low-end price at a funfair. Its a bit bigger, longer than I expected and the skull on the handle is oversized. I had hoped to be able to cut the wand a little in length (don’t tell Dumbledore about such blasphemous intentions). But, importantly, it is hollow inside and not made of solid plastic. This reduces the weight. But the main issue is that it's of a fairly light material and construction, therefore not sturdy and will not hold up in more than few fierce magical contests. So I wouldn’t recommend to take it along in a game of quidditch. It might be good for a dress-up evening or for display. The wand came at a reasonable price compared to the official branded wands. And our son will not notice the difference for the next few years. The other drawback is that we now had two little wizards lurking in the shadows constantly exposing us to surprise barrages of spells and curses. But that only lasted for about a day until the middle part snapped and the wand lost its composure. So we had to look for a more solid alternative..

Looks good, but a bit on the large side.
Though the boxed package is described as being 40cm long, it's about 50cm long; the wand itself 17.5 inches. If you're aiming for Harry Potter accuracy, their wands are about 10-13 inches, but the styling is right. The wooden look to it works well and the plastic has a bit of bend to it so it won't snap easily. For a cheap wand, it does the job well, but the size does bug me a bit.

Ok, but cheap looking
I actually thought this was shiny black and a silver bit at the front in the picture but unfortunately it is light brown with cream paint. Our one was painted poorly and it’s very cheap plastic so I think nearly £6 is a bit much. My son wanted it as part of his Halloween costume. So it does the job but just doesn’t look that great.

Cheap plastic
The wand is ok, made from very cheap plastic. I guess you get what you pay for. Honestly don't think it's worth £5.99 maybe half that price.
