The only problem with plastic flower boxes like these is that if you put plants in them that grow big, long roots, then roots can distort the flower box. My plants have been slowly pushing the flower box's sides outwards, even with the little metal bar in the middle of it. As it's pushing it apart laterally, the top part is slowly detaching from the bottom part which holds the water. I'm going to have to replace it with a tougher ceramic flower box soon or else it will probably eventually bust apart. If you're putting very small plants (like herbs) into these, or if you're putting the box into another container - like a wire thing that hangs outside your window, something to give it lateral restraint - then you're probably fine. But if you're putting bigger plants in and just setting this thing on your window sill, I'd advise getting a ceramic planter instead.

Makes A Great Little Mini Garden
I wanted a planter for an indoor herb garden and this looked like a pretty good unit for the price (I got the 30" one). It is sturdy and the self-watering feature works fine (I carefully packed each watering well with soil). It's easy to fill and holds a surprising amount of water, so the plants get plenty. I haven't used it long enough to find out if the plants are getting too much water. I've never done well with plants on the windowsill, so I'm using this under a fluorescent light with daylight bulbs and the plants seem happy. Only one bit of advice - if it has to be moved, do so carefully or have plenty of towels on hand!

window box planter for cemetery lot
I had a 18 inch Misco planter for ten years that finally succumbed to the hot sun and the string trimmers that the cemetery association uses around the headstones. I shopped locally for a new one for several years, and all I could find were 24 inch planters. The 24 inch planter filled with dirt and flowers is too heavy for me. I checked the brand of the one I have and found a Misco planter in the size I needed on your website. I appreciate it.

My first window box!
This sits right on my window sill with no extra equipment. We've had a few severe thunderstorms so I think it's pretty secure. I planted some basil and chives in mine, RIP curling parsley. You may want to stick with two or three of the same type of plant. Watering is easy and you can see the level plainly. I've been very pleased with all of my Misco self-watering planters.

Contented Plants
I put two of these into operation almost immediately on their arrival. They are a significant improvement over the planters I replaced in two specific ways: First, the self-watering feature is a real plus - avoiding both over-watering and under watering; Second, the center cross-brace eliminates the center bulge that is always experienced with unbraced plastic planters. Our begonias are loving their new environment!

Missing parts caused a headache
I had to do multiple returns on this item as the cross brace was missing on them, finally I fashioned a cross piece out of an old wire coat hanger so that my wife could plant in them and the manufacturer has promised I should have the original manufactured pieces by the end of next week.

Exactly as pictures
Good product, solid build, really what you see is what you get. The water tray works exactly as expected. The color is just as you see in the picture. Very avacado.
