I loved my Bahco PX-M so much (after giving up on ...
Take it over the Felco 600 anyday. I had so many problems and read many reviews about people snapping the flimsy blades on the Felco 600.I loved my Bahco PX-M so much (after giving up on the Felco 2 poor blade quality) thought it was time to give Bahco folding saw a try.The teeth design of the 396-JT is meant for soft/green wood. The 396-HP is meant for hard/dry wood. Make sure you buy the right one for your application. I saw that one review bought one design and used it for the wrong application.

Takes abuse
I use the JT for trail building, which includes some of the nastiest abuse you can inflict on a folding saw. I actually rotate through two units, which sit side by side in the dual saw pockets of my Carhharts. When the for-limbs saw gets dull, I rotate it to the for-roots position and replace the worn out blade. Limbs include green wood, dry branch-stiffeners on aged cedar and douglas fir windfalls, and 2+ inch limbs if my 15" Fanno isn't close. Roots include blind grabs under hard-packed soil, and of course, stones. I've never broken a body (unlike other brands) and only a few times snapped a blade, always the root saw that had gotten horribly dull and was forced while jammed. When the open/close button is too clogged with mud, I beat it against a tree & it clears. I often have to scrape the blade channel free of mud with a twig or a nail to close the saw. Rinse, brush & spray WD40 when I get home. The only reason I buy them in bulk is I keep losing them - black and dropped on the ground = invisible. I can easily get blade replacements, unlike most other brands. I've tried the short-tooth HP but for the mixed work I do, JT works better. I only abuse my Bahco because I love it so much.

Awesome Saw!
This is the best flip saw on the market. The blade locks in the open and closed position. Be extremely careful as the teeth are razor sharp. This saw cuts on the pull stroke and makes a beautifully clean cut. It has seen a intense use trimming hundreds of apple trees (very hard wood) and landscaping.I lost my Stihl saw and was glad I decided to try the Bahco. The Stihl (private label ARS) is bulky so it doesn't fit in the thigh pocket of my Carhartt pants or bibs. It also has part of the blade is exposed even when closed. The Bahco has neither of the problems. As far as the review about it breaking I bet it was the blade. It WILL snap if you pull it out to far mid-cut and and then jam it into the limb on the return stroke. At least you can purchase a replacement blade.

Solid and reliable
I bought a slightly earlier revision of this saw (396-HP) from Amazon in July 2008. Since then I've used it to saw through plenty of small branches and brush, a job for which it is wonderfully suited, and even the 8" trunk of a fallen poplar without much trouble (this saw isn't meant for anything that large, and I would have had a much easier time with a chainsaw - but it worked). No give on the saw blade, smooth folding action, and it still seems sharp as the day I bought it. It folds down to a compact package and the lock on the blade seems very sturdy. Great for yardwork or backpacking/camping.
