Westek 6089WB 500W Full Range Foot Control Dimmer, White

I needed a replacement dimmer for my 300W Halogen lamp. The original foot dimmer died after 15 years. We tried replacing the fuse inside but it went out after another 3 weeks and the new fuse blew, so I suppose it was time to retire. The new switch worked great straight out the package. Dimmer function seems as it was before with the original. I've been monitoring the heat since some reviewers noted it. For the past few days we've had the lamp on full (300W) and the switch got a little warm after 4-5 hours of use. Pretty much like the original. Seems like it's working correctly. I'm glad the lamp still works, because it's perfect and lights the whole room and you just can't find them anymore. I suppose too many idiots throwing t-shirts over the top of them in dorms scared the manufacturers. So yeah, saved my old perfect halogen lamp for 11 bucks.

we bought a pre-lit christmas tree that is lit with a lot (supposedly 1200) of small incandescent lights. we bought it because we liked the tree in spite of the fact it had incandescent bulbs. we measured that the lights drew 465 watts. also, the bulbs were so bright as to be annoying in the evening. using the dimmer, we brought the brightness down to the level we wanted while using less than half the power. the power consumption is still way more than for LEDs, but we got the tree and light levels we wanted.the control is very smooth, and at the low end of its travel, the meter measures 0.0 watts. the dimmer gets pretty warm, so we keep it on a piece of ceramic tile for peace of mind.

It works well, but it is unreliable. I've had two of these fail after about a year of minor daily usage.Update: 3rd one failed. I saw it happen. I was changing bulbs with lights on. Switching the bulb was what did it.I gave up on this product. I replaced it with one recommended 1000bulbs website. They specialize in light related products, and everything I've bought there just works.

Great product. We are using this to dim our 7.5 foot pre-lit Christmas tree lights (I think it has 900 lights). The dimmer only gets mildly warm and gives the tree the cozy vibe we are looking for. Plus it saves energy. We have always dimmed our lights and as a result we experience very few burned out bulbs. A great way to soften the lighting, save energy, and minimize bulb hassles. Liked it for the purpose I intended, but was surprised it does not fully turn off light at max slide. No separate off button either.

Works fine and looks stylish to boot. It's nice that you can operate it easily with a foot, but the "travel" distance of the switch is on the short side, making dimming control somewhat difficult.

This "works," but even well under the maximum range of 500W, it gets very hot - you can touch it without burning yourself, but I do NOT think this is a good or safe product. It also offers a HAIR'S WIDTH of range between being fully on and fully off. Quite a disappointment, but unfortunately unable to find a dimmer switch like this for a plug-in lighting fixture with more than 300W.

It still does get warm when used, but not as hot as a 300 watt unit I had been using. It dims the lights to an appealing level which is what I wanted.

This one says full range and it is full range not like some table dimmers I have bought. I am happy with my purchase.
