Not truly 16"
These only open 15 1/4", not a big deal unless you use them as I do. I cut my wood 15 -15 1/2" long, then pick up on the cut ends. you can then pick up 2" to 32" pieces and place them wherever you want, stack or split. The drawback using these around the log, they get jammed against other pieces and only work on certain sizes. I can use these in the future, just cut my wood 3/4" shorter.

Awkward tool
The tool is awkward to use due to sloppy joints. The Husqvarna log tongs are much better.

Works as advertised..
These are pretty good overall. The work straight out of the box. They don't have a single rivet, all screws/lock-nuts so you can adjust and rebuild them as necessary. The only "con" so far is the handle, it's just not a good shape for pulling a 40-100lb log.

Good tongs and work, but needed modified.
I had to modify these as the spikes that grab the log would hit each other. So I added some fender washers to act as bumpers on it. Also the points aren’t sharp, and I had to sharpen them so they would bite into the wood.
