A truly great chess book. The best on tactics I have read.
This book is very well written, with clear and easy to follow instruction. Not a single typo or imperfect analysis in the entire book! Every conceivable tactical theme is covered and there are exercises at the end of each chapter to test you on what you've leaned. You can also cover the answer to each instructive example and test yourself as you go through the book, making the book an excellent tactics puzzle book also. Some of the examples are from the chess greats, like Morphy, Kasparov and Fischer, making the book almost an historical encyclopedia of the greatest chess tactics ever played and many are from the biggest chess matches played in chess history. Some of the tactics are truly beautiful, with great imagination shown. I can't rate this book more highly, surely a chess book classic of our time.

Less than I hoped for :(
The book is printed on thin paper so that the text on the reverse can be read through the page, add to that the diagrams towards the back of the book are "bleached" so the dark squares are barely cross-hatched and those that are are patchy. It says you can use this book without a board as a travel companion but trying to see 13 moves ahead (25 ply) is beyond most of us. This is the third in a series of three books so I am relieved I did not buy the other two.
