This question is directed at people who have owned these bottles for awhile: how do the spray mechanisms hold up long term?

I have had these bottle for five years and the nozzles still work perfectly. I put vinegar and essential oils in them for cleaning. I had another brand where the nozzle stopped working after about 10 sprays and even when it did "work" it came out in a stream.

Do these work with olive oil?

The mist spray setting DOES NOT work with oil. It shoots out as a stream of oil. So both settings stream oil.

What is the advantage to using glass spray bottles rather than plastic?

This tinted glass bottle will keep your essential oils from UV damage according to the Seller's product information. The sprayer/reusable mister is advertised as being BPA and chemical free; usable for all your liquid sprays ~ which is the reason I purchased from this Seller. I am loving my bottles and use them for multiple mixtures such as cleaning and beauty products. Glass is the way to go if you want chemical free and clean mixtures.

Are these food safe? Can be used for balsamic vinegar?

The Seller says the product is lead and BPA free and the sprayer is a clean chemical free reusable mister for all your liquid sprays. I do use vinegar with mine, tho not balsamic. If I used balsamic vinegar, I wouldn't hesitate using this product to dispense it.

This is a good product so far. I purchased it to use with apple cider vinegar to spread meat in the smoker. It puts out a good amount of spray on either spray or stream setting. It is convenient to have the caps to store a product for later. I did notice that some liquid got behind the seal in the cap and it is not easy to get out to dry. The seal is a cone shape and is locked into the top of the cap. Not worth a star loss though. Works as intended. Good price for 2 units.

Sturdy and environmentally friendly bottle
