Vidal Sassoon Salonist Permanent Hair Dye, 5/0 Medium Neutral Brown Hair Color, 2 Count

I've been coloring my hair for about 10 years now, strictly for gray coverage. My hair is very dark brown and I've never strayed too far from my natural color. I'm not using the "dark" or "darkest" shades anymore since I'm going for a softer look. Matching dark hair can be tricky and unfortunately the results can be pretty one dimensional. Not with this hair color! The grey coverage is fantastic and I swear it looks like I've added highlights at the same time. I really love the results!Painting the roots and then adding to the lengths makes for cleaner application in my opinion. I manage to make kind of a mess with most other dye products but haven't had that problem with the VS Salonist.One thing I love about this product is that you're supposed to wash your hair after coloring. That is atypical for hair dyes and it eliminates any dye smell. The color comes out with a lot of depth and my hair feels soft and looks shiny.I agree with some other reviewers that the greys do lighten over time but the color doesn't fade out completely. With the brown shades, it seems to be a lighter reddish brown. I usually use medium natural brown but once I got stuck and had to use medium golden brown. To be honest I didn't notice a whole lot of difference.I was buying this in-store but I haven't been able to find it recently. I like it so much that I was actually super relieved to find it on amazon. You won't regret trying this one!

I used to use Feria but I use this VS Salonist color exclusively now. It has great permanence and is very shiny. I have wild hair and this tames it down along with some hair gel. This also completely covers grey roots without any fading at all during the life of the color which is about six to eight weeks and probably would go longer if I didn't have the grey growing. It does not dry my hair out and it comes with a conditioner that really saturates and rehydrates the hair. I used to try and get this at the local big box stores but they would be out or the packages would be mauled and torn up. By getting it from Amazon regularly, I am able to avoid the crowds, the parking, and the disappointment of finding this very popular item missing from the stock. I have used this particular color many times and it is always consistent and fabulous for me. I have medium hair thickness but lots and lots of it (close hair pores). I have very short hair just to my hair line at my neck and one box does it for me but I know in the future, as my hair grows out, I will need probably two boxes. If you have long thick hair, get two boxes. If you have thin hair from short length to medium, one box would probably do the trick.

Yes, this was a little bit more work than most hair color but it does the job! This one covered all the roots perfectlly! It didn't irritate my scalp either. I like it when they instructions say to shampoo hair after rinsing out the dye. Most don't and you wonder if you do will all the dye wash out too. They have a right to be confident in this color since it stayed where it was supposed to and I didn't go around for a couple of days smelling like hair dye.

I liked the professional way the kit is made. The color with added serum makes your hair feel silky after coloring. However, the resulting color was much darker than anticipated! My hair turned black! I am too old for black hair! Next time I will try a light neutral brown and hope it comes out medium brown! Vidal Sassoon hair color does seem a little nicer that some of the other color brands.

This is the best hair color I have ever used. My hair stays shiny up to the next time I have to retouch, and it adds body to my thin hair, making it easy to style. I really like the fact that it doesn't stain your scalp. The way you mix and apply the products is just like what your stylist does. You don't have banded color when you do a retouch job.Love, love this product!

Worst hair coloring product I have ever used. Difficult and time consuming to add hair dye…ridiculous! Would not ever use again. Will be throwing away the second package that came with my order!!!

This shade is the perfect color to match my natural hair color and it is so easy to apply. It makes my hair feel soft instead of brittle like other hair color products. I can't find it in the stores any more so I was very pleased to find it online!

Box came broken and crumpled. I’ve used this brand for years, but it’s been discontinued. Obviously it was past sell by date since color did not develop as normal.
