Beautiful Recorder
I own a Yamaha Alto recorder. The alto recorder proved to be of such high quality and sound that I decided to purchase a Yamaha soprano recorder. It is a beautiful little recorder that plays easily with wonderful sound. Playing these high quality plastic recorders saves wear & tear on my much older wooden recorders. I was skeptical about a plastic recorder being able to have as good of sound as the wooden ones. They have proven themselves to be every bit as good. The price is very reasonable, too. I highly recommend these recorders.

Worth the buy
Product is aesthetically pleasing. Flawless Japanese craftsmanship. Deducted one star because I have a problem with the E note producing the right sound. I haven't played around with a soprano since 4th grade, so this may be an issue on my part, but I feel as though I have to blow very hard or quite softly to produce the right sound for the note. I have this issue with another note as well. Other than that, At college, everyone who is anyone play's an instrument. Me being a pre-med student, I don't have time to learn classy instruments, So I mess with this one. Learned how to play Epona's song from Legend of Zelda in a few minutes just from messing around and watching youtube video's. I enjoy this. Definitely worth the buy. If you're debating whether to buy this one or a cheaper one, just go by your budget. Me and my friend bought one together. I got this and my friend got a different one for $5. Mine is definitely higher quality but both play the same. Mine may squeak less then his.

Surprisingly good tone and in tune - I can recommend this recorder for beginners or for an extra
I own several expensive wood recorders and have been playing recorder on and off for around 45 years. I got this just to have an extra, inexpensive one for traveling or what not. It has a surprisingly nice tone and seems to be in tune for all 2 1/2 octaves or so. If you're thinking of trying the recorder, I suggest buying one like this instead of one of those super cheap ones with crappy sound. I also recommend the Sweetpipes recorder books, with CORRECT fingering charts.

It's a technical marvel
For a modicum price, you get an in-tune chromatic instrument that you can produce real music with, a recorder that performs better costs currently ten times as much. It's truly a display of technical prowess from Yamaha (and its competitor in this space, Aulos) to offer the world such a gift. I have since made the jump to recorders with better qualities, but I will forever be grateful to Yamaha for making the YRS-302b recorder. Now, specifics, this thing is in tune, honestly, buy something cheaper or a low-end wooden recorder, and the difference is night and day. The articulation can be slightly tricky, the lower notes are more sensitive to pressure than more expensive recorders, so switching up and down requires a fair bit of attention, but it's well within the range of what's reasonable. To learn, this instrument won't really limit you. Really, get it, get it now.

Exactly what my daughter needed for music class. It is very durable and has lived in her backpack for months with no damage. Great for introduction to music.

All I need todo now is learn how to play it. If you have set your mind on learning to play something this recorder might be just the thing. I am going to give it a go and try and complete one more thing on my bucket list.

A much needed upgrade from Yamaha's cheaper recorders. In honesty, it still does sound cheap, but each note is fairly clean and sweet, this recorder makes for an enjoyable practice session. Still a fantastic instrument to use when not performing. This recorder comes with a great case, a cleaning rod, and grease for the connecting joints of the recorder, the use of grease is essential in making sure you do not prematurely wear the recorder through its lifetime. It is definitely a perfect starting recorder and kit.
