Great for the Price - Reads in Degrees
Purchased for individual field use and training.Nearly identical to the issued M2 lensatic compass, with the exception being this is marked in degrees instead of mils.Construction is a hard, durable plastic. Note that opening the compass isn't easy out of the box.The mirror attached to the interior of the top half is well secured and aligned properly. No real concern of it falling out and breaking. Both bubble levels read true. Shooting a crest is easy.Needle points magnetic north, as expected. Not bad, considering the price point, and those of similar items. Would recommend if you're looking for a reliable piece of gear. Would be perfect it it read in mils.Pictured: side-by-side of an M2 lensatic compass (left, cracked mirror)

i was amazed at what i got in the mail
the only complaint is that the mirror is not glass, and so don't touch it, it is a bear to clean. about the compass, first it is very light. it is graduated into degrees and i made a compass prover earlier today, and tested this against a brunton and a military issue (GI), lenstatic compass. while the first two were right on the money, this one was 1/2 degree out. i'm not sure you realize what that means, but it means for the price this is an amazing part of your gear.on my youtube channel were i reviewed and tested it, i gave it a must have if you need one. 1/2 a degree.... i have other compasses that cost more that are not as accurate.last points, it does settle in about 15 seconds which is in spec with the paper work.if you need quality, this is a good purchasethe other reviews were correct.

Worked as well as Brunton
I bought this to take to field camp. I used it as well as a brunton; the readings were always the same. The one difference was the brunton I was using was a bit stiff. I highly recommend this compass, especially if you only need it for a short time.

Needs better technical instruction
Overall pretty good compass compared to the expensive Bruntons. The down side is the poorly written technical manual. Looks like it was written in English by someone whose first language was most likely Chinese because that’s most likely where it was made. Some of the instructions made no sense. Ok so cancel me because you think I’m racist but it’s the truth that the instructions, although in English, do a poor job of explaining how to use the device

Not worth the money
I was truly surprised when I opened the box and found out that this Compass is made of plastic the cover is very hard to open the needle you cannot read if you need reading glasses you can't get a decent alignment at distance and it seems to be very poorly built what are the money it was not worth it in my book being former Mountain Rescue I would not recommend this except as a child's toy is that poorly built and it is that hard to use

Great compass
Perfect for a geologist. Bought this model at the request of my daughter, and it fits her needs in the field perfectly

Sturdy and accurate
This compass is perfect for geological surveying. The inclinometer is accurate and easier to use than others sold here. It's reliable and sturdy so far, a great addition to my geo tools.

Poorly setup
The cardinal points are turned upside down. East faces West etc. Not at all a good investment at this stage
