Mary Oliver’s homage to Mary Malone Cook (MMC) who was her partner and fellow traveler for over 40 years. Beautiful, not sentimental, in part documentary and a life history. Also, this short book draws on MMC’s journals and Mary Oliver’s recollections. The writing is simple, clear, yet poetic. Not over-written. “Less is more” is found here. Also, included are MMC’s wonderful b/w photos. She was very talented. Had a poet’s eye. The photos are a kind of lived poetry. All in all, we see here “the caring of memories” in the very best sense.

I Have Enjoyed Mary Oliver’s Poetry For Years, The Sweep & Breadth Of It. Her Descriptions Of The Smallest Details Help My Imagination Soar. I Knew About Molly. However, I Had Only Seen A Few Of Her Photographs. Molly’s Photos & Mary’s Poetry & Prose Are Magical. They Complement Each Other & Paint A Fuller Picture Of Life In New England Among Other Writers & Photographers. Although The Book Is Short, I Highly Recommend It. I Would Definitely Buy The Book Again!

One of the most beautiful and touching love stories I have ever read. Mary Oliver writes of her and Molly Malone Cook's 40 year relationship shortly after Cook dies. The photographs are by photographer Cook and the text by poet and essayist Oliver. I have read it several times and will continue to read it.

Simple and eloquent eulogy. Mary Oliver does a superb job of portraying her relationship and life with Molly Cook. The photographs selected are wonderful and what a treat it would have been to meet either of these remarkable women. I love the simplicity of this little book, and the unreserved portrayal of them both.

This book is a rich blend of text by Mary Oliver and photos by Molly Malone Cook, her lifetime partner. The photographs let you take in the people and places of a time gone by, and the text, like all of Oliver's writing, is clear, clean, direct, and satisfying. She conveys all her love for the woman she calls "M.", and their life together in the place that was their home. So many scenes of their time with creative, ordinary and extraordinary people. This book is well worth spending time with, and if you love Mary Oliver's work, you'll want "Our World" in your library.

A lovely book that combines the photographs of Molly Malone Cook and an essay by Mary Oliver. It is a perfect melding, mirroring their relationship. It is a wonderful addition to our Mary Oliver library and I highly recommend it.
