Nyko Intercooler STS for Xbox 360 Slim

After receiving my new Xbox 360 S over this past holiday, I noticed it ran much warmer than my original Xbox 360, about 30-40 degrees warmer to be exact. I have two HDTV's right next to each other(One 63" Mounted on the wall, one 42" on a stand) and I have my original Xbox in an enclosed area in the tv stand, with my new one sitting on top of the tv stand behind the 42" tv. Well, after noticing that Skyrim was freezing and lagging more often on my new Xbox than the original console, I grabbed a "point and click" temperature sensor and realized just how much more hot my new system was getting, compared to my old one. Even in the enclosed area my old Xbox was in, the temperature read 68-69 degrees Fahrenheit, where my new one was reading 108-120 degrees Fahrenheit...in the open air. I originally thought that it may be because of the heat my 42" plasma was putting off, but I played my Xbox 360 S without that tv on, and it still did the same thing. So, after contemplating whether or not I should exchange my console for a new one(thinking it may be a faulty fan and what not) I decided against it. I began looking on Amazon for a cooler for it. I almost chose the CTA Digital Xbox 360 Turbo Cooling Fan with 3 Usb Hubs( CTA Digital Xbox 360 Turbo Cooling Fan With 3 Usb Hubs ), but a particular review stated that although it worked great, after moderate use, they began to notice a loud humming noise coming from the cooler fans. They realized that the weight of the Xbox had been pushing down on the housing of the fans causing it to make contact with the fans. So after reading that and a handful of others, as well as seeing as how this cooler was half the price, and being a college student with no money, I decided to choose this one. Being a prime member, I got it next day for 4 bucks. Packaging was great, and item came new as described. I was amazed after installing this intercooler on my Xbox 360 S. I couldn't believe how big of a difference it made. Where it was originally reading around 100 degrees Fahrenheit at the dashboard, it was now reading 70-78 degrees Fahrenheit. Playing Skyrim is where I noticed the biggest difference. I no longer had any more lag spikes or freezing issues. Checking the temperature, I originally had a range of 110-120 degrees Fahrenheit without the cooler, and I now have 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit with it. While still a high temperature, compared to my original Xbox, I am more than happy with how this intercooler has performed. I definitely recommend this cooler to anybody who wants to prolong the life of their xbox or to help cool it off. It has performed wonderfully, much better than I ever expected. This review was made roughly a month after I installed the cooler. I put more than enough hours on it, and it is still running as if I just installed it. I probably put around 80 hours on it in the first week and a half I had the cooler, with several 12-hour straight sessions(I know, it's ridiculous. I couldn't put Skyrim down). Pros: -Does an excellent job at dissipating the heat -Greatly cools the console -Pretty simple to install -Built-in temperature sensor allows the fan to run even after the console is turned off to completely cool the system. -Looks awesome -Good build quality -I love that it is powered by the xbox via usb and not another cord that needs to be plugged into an outlet. -Fan is not a traditional fan, it is a turbine like fan that is similar to those on high-end PC video cards. Which has proved to push a lot more air than the traditional fans. Cons: -Fan is loud, similar to how the original xbox sounds, but it doesn't really bother me. I'd rather have a loud fan than a hot console that keeps freezing. -Can't set anything on top of the xbox. It's probably a good idea not to set anything on top of this console anyways as it seems to run warmer, but I was used to putting my game cases and controllers on top of the console when not playing.(Just a preference) -The fit could be a little tighter to the xbox. I feel like it would be easy to pop out of place while moving the xbox.(also a preference) -Although the installation is straight forward and easy to understand, it was kind of difficult to line it up just right to get it to snap in. Overall, this product was one of the best buys I have ever made. There really isn't anything bad that can be said about this product. I would definitely buy another one if I got another Xbox 360 S. I highly recommend this product to anyone.

I was pretty surprised this worked so well. It dropped my temps by about 10 degrees across the board. Setup is as simple as it possibly could be. Did have some issues with getting my bad update exploit to run properly with the fan plugged in but I was able to find a way to make it work. Overall I'm satisfied

Probably one of my favorite Xbox 360 accessories I have bought so far. Really does help pull the heat away from the cpu and makes it last a little longer. Also great if you have it in tight spaces and need to push the heat somewhere. 10/10

Prior to ordering the Nyco intercooler, my XBox 360 would be almost too hot to touch after an hour or so of BF3. Now, the case is very cool. It seems to even be below room temperature if that is possible. I am going to test it with my laser thermometer and report back. You can feel all the hot air being expelled toward the front of the Xbox and away where it belongs. I have had less disconnects from online gaming and no system freezes since using it. Installation was a breeze, just snap it in over the vents on the top of the Xbox and plug it into one of the USB ports in the back. It automatically turns on and off depending on heat. It also will keep monitoring the heat after you shut the console down to allow it to fully cool faster. Pros: -Cost was very cheap, got it next day via Amazon for around $20 -Style, looks like it belongs there. -Quality, looks like similar materials that are used on the xbox itself -Performance, cools this thing down seriously Cons: -Can be noisier than just the internal fans. I play with TurtleBeach headset on and I can never hear it while playing though. Recommendation: They make note in the paperwork to periodically clean the dust that will accumulate inside the fan to keep it working well. If you have pets like I do, it will tend to get some fur and dust in there frequently, so take a look at it from time to time.

Like many others in the world I fell victim of the infamous RROD with my 2nd Gen xbox360. Christmas 2011 I got a new xbox 360 slim with Kinect. So my first reaction was...I can not alow this one to overheat what-so-ever. I looked for months for a secondary way to cool down the xbox reading review after review then i stumbled onto this little guy over here. I just received this product today a few minutes ago and imediatly slapped this bad boy on my 360 (scarring my fiance in the process because I guess I moved so fast to do it haha) The first thing I did was clean up the 360 and sprayed it down in every vent slot I could find with compressed air to make sure there was no dust (which I do on a regular bases anyway but it doesn't hurt) It litterly snaps onto the xbox like shown in the picture and plugs into one of the usb ports in the back of the 360. The wire is long enough to reach and short enough to not look sloppy. (I like my wires grouped together nice and neat plus it looks nice and doesnt let dust build up on the wires) After I was done I turned on the xbox and waited. Once the intercooler turned on at first cold air was comming out then after leaving the system idle for aprox 6 minutes I placed my hand infront of the nose again and felt the heat comming out which suprised me, and the amount of air that it shoots out is rediculous. The fan works like a turbo for a car, it spools up air in a "pinwheel fashion" which alows a massive amount of air flow (more air flow = good). The other reviews that say this product is "loud and noisy" have no idea what they are talking about. Yes it makes SOME noise but nothing that will distract you when your in the middle of pwning the noobs who wrote that review. I absolutly recomend this product for anyone skeptical or looking for a secondary way to cool your system down. Nyko makes great products and accessories to begin with and this Intercooler STS is just greatness that comes in a box!

As a Cable Cutter, I put up a Antenna and use my Windows 7 PC and Media Center to Record up to 4 programs at once. To watch them on one of my 3 HDTV's I have 3 Xbox 360's Well 360S's These SLIM versions. Where I use Media Center Extender on them. Works fantastic!!! Anyway the one in the Familyroom was doing these strange things. It was popping up Menu's and whatnot acting completely crazy. It was fine until it was on for a few hours and then start acting up. At first I thought It was something going on with my Harmony Remote. I use one that support RF to IR and so had a MINI IR blaster mounted to the front of my 360 and thought that was why it was doing what it was doing, but after I removed it, the issues didn't stop. I would try to turn it off, but it would then turn it's self back on! Strange right!!! So I would end up having to Unplug it. Then next day Plug it back in and everything was fine once again until at some point it would go crazy once again. Now my 360X sits on a Glass A/V rack with Open space on all sides. It's not hot inside my house, maybe 68 degrees. Well as soon as I got this Intercooler, I mounted it up. Since then not 1 Crazy Episode yet!!! It's been a month now and nothing. It actually fix my problems!!! I don't know why MS can't make a 360 without heating issues. This thing doesn't Blow air into the 360, it sucks it out of the 360 and blows all that hot air out the front of the unit. You can put your hand up front and feel the hot air blowing out of it. Which is the one minor issue. It's LOUD! Yes LOUD! I can't hear it when I'm watching TV and the Volume is on, but when I pause or Mute, I can hear it then pretty good. Still, it's worth it. I don't have to buy another 360 like I thought I might have to. I already had a Original 360 I got Dec 2005, a month after the Launch and in ended up RROD on me a couple years ago which is when I first for this 360S which was flaking out on me. This one is also used far more then my other 2 that are in Bedrooms. If it was also Quite, I'd give it 5 stars! Using the USB port to power it is far better then the Past versions on the old 360 using the power port!!! Apr 5th 2013 It's been a couple months now and it's still working great. My 360 hasn't screwed up once since installing this Cooler so it's doing it's job! I'm really quite surprised!!!

Got this from my xbox.When I was playing fallout, it cools the xbox down significantly and my games don't crash anymore with highly recommended for anyone else

I'm writing this in hopes that bargain hunters like me might see it and be reassured. Maybe "penny-pincher" is a better word, but after going over a year without a steady job I've learned the value of every dollar, and then some. 18-20 dollars might not seem like a lot of money for some people, but it's a pretty good amount for me, and there are I have seen cheaper cooling devices on the site. I took a chance on this one after reading a number of glowing reviews (and because I think the thing looks pretty cool, personally) and I am not at all disappointed. I've only had my 360 Slim for a couple of weeks, but after my first Xbox overheated for the last time and kicked the bucket, I was not going to take any chances, so I bought this thing almost the same day. It works great and stays on long after you turn off your console to keep filtering out the warm air. I'm not technically savvy, but before I had it I noticed that a good deal of my console would be warm to the touch after a couple hours of gaming, and now only the area around the fan is warm. And it's fairly quiet, too. I have a loud, dying computer in the same room that my girlfriend tells me sounds like a train, so part of the noise from the fan is certainly disguised by the computer, but even with the PC off I can't hear it over the sounds of the game, unlike my last Xbox. We had to turn the volume up to hear the game over the fans in the back. So anyway, I hope somebody sees this and finds it useful. I'm looking at the console over my shoulder and, yeah, the Intercooler looks like a black tumor sticking out of the Xbox, so it's not very asthetically pleasing, which is something to note if you care about that at all. But it does its job and it does it extremely well. I am a very satisfied customer.

Es el segundo que compro para una slim. Ya que el prinero ahi sigue funcionando mas de un año despues. Es el mejor ventilador que he probado para la 360. Este lo compre para una segunda xbox que me han regalado. Funciona perfecto y extrae mucho calor del interior de la consola. Se alimenta por usb y no mete un ruido excesivo.

Estoy muy satisfecho de ésta adquisición, mantiene ventilada la consola y se puede utilizar por lapsos prolongados de juego, además al apagar la consola aún sigue haciendo su función automáticamente si detecta calor en la Xbox

Excellent accessoire !!! Je l'utilise depuis longtemps déjà et marche toujours aussi bien. On pourra lui reprocher d'être un peu bruyant comparé au son normal du ventilo de la Xbox 360 S (uniquement le modèle S) mais c'est le prix à payer pour pouvoir caser sa console dans un meuble avec très peu d'espace pour l'aération. L'appareil s'éteint même après que l'on ai éteint la console histoire d'évacuer l'air chaud encore présent dans la console.

This is for my Xbox 360 S model. The intercooler fan fits this model. It is very easy to install and remove if you need to clean the dust out from long period of use. This is a black matte finish so it blended well with my matte finish Xbox. I highly recommend to have this if you plan to play long hours, leave your xbox overnight to download large file games, or in the room where is usually warm or hot. This may prevent overheating and may prevent the xbox to crash during long gameplay.
