Great tripod! Comparison of options
I was looking for a light tripod for SONY NEX 5N, which is 17.1 oz with its 18-55mm lens. If you are looking for a GorillaPod for NEX 5N with a different lens this piece of info might be useful: the weight of the body+battery+memory card+strap is 10.2 oz. My choice was between GorillaPod GP2 that has over a hundred great reviews and this new model. I decided to go with the new model for two reasons: it supports slightly heavier cameras (giving me room to add a bigger lens to this camera) and has dual action knob for horizontal and vertical orientation. The tripod fits my camera perfectly: the quick release fits tightly and holds the camera securely. I tried wrapping the legs on various odd objects and various angles, it worked extremely well! Even when I press the button to take a photo there is no noticable bounce. In a low light I would use a timer, which I do even with a regular tripod. An added bonus I did not expect is that it fits into my camera bag if I tilt down the head. I am attaching a couple of photos for illustration. Below are some details I collected while deciding which GorillaPod will be the best for my camera. I hope others will find the summary useful as well. The most important thing is to buy the GorillaPod that can handle the weight of your camera (with the heaviest lens it takes, battery, etc). ___________________________________ ___________________________________ Comparison of the old GP2 GorillaPod vs the new Joby GorillaPod Hybrid: New: Dual action knob for horizontal and vertical movement for portrait or landscape orientation New: Supports up to 2.2lbs [35.2oz / 998g] compared to 1.75 lbs [23.4oz / 663g] for GP2 New: Its weight is 6.4 oz(181g) compared to 5.8 oz(164g) for GP2 ___________________________________ GorillaPod Original: For point and shoot cameras up to 11.5 oz (325g) Its weight 1.6 oz (45g) ___________________________________ Old GorillaPod SLR: For SLR cameras up to 1.75 lbs (800g) Is weight 5.8oz (164g) ___________________________________ New GorillaPod Hybrid: For SLR cameras up to 2.2 lbs (1kg) Its weight 6.4 oz (181g) ___________________________________ GorillaPod SLR-Zoom: For SLRs with zoom lenses up to 6.6 lbs (3kg) Its weight 8.5 oz (241g) ___________________________________ GorillaPod Focus: For SLRs with big zoom lenses up to 11 lbs (5kg) Its weight 1.1lb (482g) ___________________________________ All have quick release All have bubble level Overall this is great tripod and so light. I am looking forward to traveling with it instead of several pounds of the old trusty Manfrotto tripod. Ali Julia review Update July 2015 After 4 years of daily use the tripod legs no longer hold the camera in one position, the camera sags. I just ordered another one. I have a few other small tripod, nothing works as well. I wish it lasted forever, but 4 years is not too bad, I used it just about every day.

Fantastic Gorillapod
This thing is awesome! This is a great tripod because you can attach it to literally anything. The Good: - Legendary Gorillapod Grip - Just bend the legs around anything (chair, tree) and it'll hold tight. - Strong - This thing is rated to hold up to 2.2 lbs. which is way more than my camera weighs, meaning it stays put - The quick release clip is the crowning feature of the hybrid model and is worth the extra money. There is a separate piece to attach to the tripod screw in your camera that quickly pops in and out of the tripod. This means you can set up the tripod, see if it'll hold, and then quickly attach your camera. - The bubble level makes it easier to take good landscape (horizontal) photos. Things that could be better: - The little button to pop out the quick release clip is tough to reach if you have a larger camera installed - It would be nice to see them add another bubble level for portrait (vertical) shots.

BEST TRIPOD I HAVE TESTED SO FAR!
Here is a video review for more info! [...] I love this tripod! It is very sturdy, versatile with its bendable flexible joints and grips, as well as functional. It has a 360 rotational head for you to film or take pictures at any angle as well as a leveling bubble to help you get a straight shot! The quick release clip is very useful to easily put on and take off your camera or phone etc. I highly recommend this tripod, the only thing I wish that it also had were magnetic feet like the joby gorillapod magnetic tripod which I also have a written and video review for! Go check out my profile! :)

GorillaPod works as advertised, but would be better if the level worked with the head off to the side
I bought the Joby GorillaPod tripod for use with my iPhone 4. (Of course, it will work with any tripod mount on any camera.) iPhone 4 does not have a tripod mount. But when we combine Joby GorillaPod with Belkin LiveAction Camera Grip, we finally have a good and secure system to mount iPhone 4 to a tripod. The junky iPhone holders that provide an iPhone tripod mount put iPhone into the horizontal landscape orientation position only. I also want portrait orientation. Here is the solution: I use the Joby GorillaPod together with the Belkin LiveAction Camera Grip with Application for Apple iPhone 4s (and iPhone 4). iPhone 4 plugs into the Belkin LiveAction Camera grip in landscape position. Then Belikin LiveAction Camera Grip mounts onto the GorillaPod in landscape position. Then I move GorillaPod's head off to the side, so that iPhone is in portrait position. GorillaPod feels a bit unbalance with iPhone hanging off the side, but after twisting GorillaPod's legs, GorillaPod is stable enough. I also purchased the Belkin Camera Stand with Remote for Apple iPhone 4s (and iPhone 4). The remote makes a Bluetooth connection to iPhone, so that we have a remote shutter click button. We finally have a good and secure mounting system for iPhone 4 to a tripod. Note to Joby: Your naming system for each Gorilla Tipod is completely wacky. Joby is naming the tripods after the device. For example, "Joby GP3 Gorillapod SLR-Zoom." I don't want to know what Joby thinks is the correct tripod-camera match. I want to know if Joby's product is small, medium, large, industrial strength.... And how much weight it will support. Comments specifically about Joby GorillaPod: GorillaPod Pros: * Grips onto various objects well. * Screw head can be moved from vertical (straight up) to horizontal (off to the side) position. * Screw head has a level for vertical use only. * Quick release of the screw head is convenient. * GorillaPod is light enough to keep it in a small case or purse while you are walking around town or hiking. GorillaPod Cons: * Hard to position the legs completely straight after they have been bent. (This is not a big deal.) * With the screw head in horizontal position (off to the side) and the camera mounted, the tripod feels a bit unbalanced. But it was stable enough after I bent the legs into some certain cockeyed orientation. * The level does not work for horizontal use. * Quick release of the screw head is a bit finicky. It's a good product. However, I also purchase the Joby Gorillamobile for AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. I promptly returned the device to Amazon. See my related review for that device.

Great product, quality built and works well With my Panasonic LUMIX and Canon SL2 Update: I put my canon SL2 with the sigma 17-50MM and it BARELY holds the camera in place since that lens is so heavy. A small DSLR with a moderately heavy lens is too much for this and you should be the next size up. This is really only meant for mirrorless I think
