Pack your bags, it's time to go on the fantasy trip of a lifetime
The fantasy trip legacy edition is a huge box of products for those interested in going all in from the start. You can begin with just playing melee and wizard then go into the death test modules. Or you could start with the Roleplaying game included. The only thing I did not like is that the box did not come with a code for the rules digitally. It would have been great to have the rules available on your phone while traveling or to read to get you through a slow day at work.

Old school style TTRPG - with EVERYTHING you might need
This is about as old school as you can get with a TTRPG - this first part of The Fantasy Trip came out in 1977. If you want a quick, fun, stream-lined game - this is it. Love it and want to expand it and make more complex - there are all kinds of rules you can add as you like but not required to just play the game. This set is well worth the money - HUGE box - box sets for the rules for Melee, Wizard, and the first 2 modules. Then add in lots of maps, hex map tiles so you can have endless designs available - with cards for magic and a big stack of character sheets. This one box literally has everything you need to play the game - AND it has the option to play modules solo. So those of us so often struggling to find someone to play a RPG with - this is your solution.Grab this before it's gone - but I really hope SJG keeps this in print.

Love, love, love the game, but the re-release is just way overpriced
I started with Melee as a Metagaming blister pack in 1978, and fell in love. It was so much more complete and easy to use compared the to D&D original edition that was available at the time - which relied on a different game for chainmail. Melee and Wizard became the game mechanics I've used and appreciated ever since. Before I graduated HS, I had at least 9 of 10 of those early Metagaming games - Car Wars, Ogre, etc. Soon, I ha the Advanced books, TFT, Tollenkar's Lair, etc. I fell in love with the Steve Jackson games, and followed it all - particularly when the computers were confiscated and started a huge freedom of the press legal case. I was excited to see the kickstarter and re release. But I can't understand the cost. These are not big books, but essentially booklets that are being reprinted. The original Melee and Wizard were a couple of dollars each. Sure prices have gone up, but not that much. Compare D&D books went from $10 then $30 now - with complete rewrites and new art work. It went from being an incredible bargain entry into RPGs to now one of the more expensive options i outpacing even GURPS - which started from TFT. It looks like the publisher is targeting nostalgia sales more than actually gaining players.

Badly damaged box
Great game, excellent components, but the game box was badly damaged and split.

Waited 30 years for this game to get back into print
I used this game as intended as an RPG, the rules are well laid out and clearly written, the game is easily taught to others , especially people not familiar with RPG’s
