beware of capture pro subscription
Had my i 2400 scanner a couple years. Now I found out that my Capture Pro Limited Edition software no longer works. I found out that to use the scanner I need to buy capture pro software costing $900.00. The scanner cost $300 to $400. I had liked the scanner but now will be throwing it out.Alaris gave me a 30 day trial of the Capture Pro software and told not to call them back.

Fast + easy + reliable
We set this scanner up in no time and everyone on the office network was using it right away and commenting on how fast it works...someone even nicknamed it "Speedy".This is our 3rd Kodak document scanner (mostly scanning to .pdf format) and these machines have been workhorses. Each time we add a newer version to the network it is much faster than the previous generation. Our scanner from 3 generations ago is still working in a small workgroup. Would highly recommend.

Not so great
It is not so great. Takes more that one page at a time skips some. WIA driver needs to be reinstalled from a CD almost every time it is not used for a day or two and will not be discoverable by the computer otherwise.I am giving it a little more time and if that does not improve. I will return it.

Fast, small and simple to use...
I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I like this scanner all around. It's small, fast, trouble-free and does the job for personal or business use. Here's my thoughts on the scanner, using it and the main features:Installation CD - Quick 1-step installation. I'm using an older Dell laptop and there were no issues. It can be used on a Mac if you have Bootcamp or Parallels. Don't forget to install the CD before you attach the cords and power on the scanner.Other Set-up - Very minimal. Just attach the power and USB cords, turn scanner on, tilt the scanner upwards, pull out the paper guides and you're all set to scan. The whole set-up took just a few minutes including the CD installation.Paper Guides - There are adjustable guides on the top and a tray on the bottom to catch the document as it comes out. The guides make sure what you're scanning goes straight through the scanner. Most normal papers sizes worked fine. I did have a little trouble with scanning small older photos. The guides don't push close enough together and the pictures would sometimes get tilted in scanning.Scanning - Very easy to do. I only have limited experience with this type of scanner since I'm used to using the flatbed type.- Just click (on your computer) the format you want your document to become (i.e. a PDF, tiff, rtf, jpeg, color photo, etc.) and then press one button to pull your document through to be scanned.- You can either use the scanning pre-sets for everyday scanning, or totally customize your file types, colors and much more for people who need something more specific.- I was surprised how fast the scanning is and how quickly the image comes up on the screen.Unit Size - Very compact size when in use and folds up even smaller to store.Reasons I like this scanner:-Fast-High-Quality Scans-Two-sided scans save time and simply scanning-Settings can be customized for specific needs-Great for personal or business use-Can scan things to e-mail, receipts, photos and more to reduce clutter around the home or office.-Small, compact, portable-Simple to use, even for those new to scannersThings that could be better:-A paper guide that accommodates photos as small as wallet-size-Wish it was Mac-compatible for those who don't have Parallels or BootcampI'll try to update this review as I use more of the many features. So far, I'm really enjoying how great this scanner is working for me.

terrible software
the two software supplied with this scanner is utterly useless.. they are giving you version 1.3 when 4.6 is release and the other one is version 13?? - and the tech support has no idea what these software tools are --- their suggestion, buy a software - really..-- cannot use the product without a software - I returned it promptly

jams and slow
This is the perfect machine to have issues with. It was hard to set up and understand. Then started jamming every 5 pages. Do not buy and do not let techs tell you it's a great machine, b/c it's not.
