TIme will tell for durability, but this saved my motorcycle
Had a bolt for my oil filter cover on my motorcycle get stripped out because I tightened it like a cavemen. Performed oil change, went to torque bolt but it kept spinning in its hole. My buttcheeks clenched in terror as I realized I may have a serious issue with my beloved machine, caused by mine own hands.Being the neanderthal that I am, I figured I could push the screwdriver harder to force the bolt to bite onto some threads. After actually accomplishing this, I puffed out my chest as man defeated stupid metal, and went to turn bike on to cycle fresh oil. Immediately after starting, the bolt gave way and precious liquid gold started spraying from the oil filter cover like an actress on onlyfans.I immediately killed the engine and reclenched my buttcheeks. If a piece of coal had been between them, surely a diamond wouldve been formed from the immense pressure. Knowing I had just potentially harmed my two wheeled goddess, I removed the other bolt from the filter cover and let the oil drain slowly from the filter housing, much like my tears. At this point I knew I was knee deep in the stuff. The bolt hole I had stripped was a mere 5mm from the filter housing, and on the edge of my engine case. A very sticky situation. I could try and tap and die to put in an M6 bolt, or I could try and rethread this one and use the magical helicoil. After conversing with some more mechanically inclined friends, I decided to go with the helicoil. The helicoils arrived (quickly) and I knew it was now or never. Get the damn thing fixed or be prepared to sacrifice some of that non-thiccc engine case to tap and die. After reading the instructions about 10 times, watching a couple videos to ensure I was properly prepared to perform repair, I went to the garage. My sweet, dear, currently crippled motorcycle say a couple inches off the ground on stands, the horizontal operating table ready for business. Then I installed the helicoil per directions. It was super easy and it worked like a charm. Bolt has held for about 600 miles so far next to an engine that puts out over 150hp and 110 ft lbs of torque to the rear, and is driven like it is stolen constantly. It was honestly very easy to do, felt very not good / comfortable reaming into my engine case, but it wasnt bad. Thanks XT AUTO for the affordable and effective solution to my problem.

Worked perfect and terrific value
I really liked the price point for the complete set. It worked perfect for fixing the threads an exhaust manifold. The twist drill bits, wrench, thread tap and breaking pin tool worked as well as can be expected for a product cost $10.14. I drilled out and tapped both bolt holes on the cast iron exhaust and the drill bit and thread tap did not appear to suffer any wear or damage.I made the choice to purchased Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel 9mm Thread Inserts from McMaster-Carr. However, I am sure the 304 stainless steel ones that came with the set would have worked fine.I certainly recommend purchasing this set, especially if it won't be used on a daily basis.

Got the job done
Don't be put off by the price compared to other products on the market. This kit works perfectly well as long as you take your time, know how deep you need to drill while leaving room for the tap to get sufficient space for the helicoil. I needed to fix 2 coil bolt hold downs on a 2003 Camry which were stripped during a spark plug change. Use some oil when drilling and taping and compressed air for clearing out the holes. The first helicoil wouldn't seat properly so I removed with pliers, rechased the hole with the tap and the second helicoil went right in with no problem. On the second hole it took 3 helicoils to get a good one to seat properly. So the saving grace with this kit was that there's 25 helicoils included. They all looked good so I don't quite know what the problem is with the quality of the helicoils. All in all the job got completed and I'm satisfied with the results. As I said the kit works fine as long as you take your time and know when to stop drilling and taping.

Helicoil
After initially getting an installation tool without a slot I contacted seller. They quickly replaced with a whole new kit. Worked great, will have to see how long it lasts.

Works perfectly
I bought this to remove and replace a broken body to frame bolt on a '71 VW Convertible. The bit drilled through the old bolt effortlessly and the tap treaded the hole perfectly. The coil went right in and threads the new bolt quite well.

Works OK, but not durable at all.
Includes all you'll need to put in the helicoils, but the installation tool (with the bent handle) is made of metal that's really soft. The prongs on the tip get bent and beat up from the inside of the helicoil. You'll be lucky if the thing seats the helicoil all the way before the tang breaks off. Fortunately, it includes a bunch of helicoils, so you can just grab the part that's still sticking out with some pliers and pull the thing out (of course, it'll be destroyed on removal) and try again with a new one. I doubt the installation tool would last to install more than half of the coils in the package.Would be nice if they included a tool with a 1/4" square hole to turn the tap.

Worked perfect with no issues, made install easy
Unlike what other reviews have said these work perfect and gave me no issues, as long as u use them correctly u won't have any problem. The drill bit was nice and sharp, tap worked flawless and even the threaded inserts went in and worked perfectly without any issues. As long as u take your time and don't force things u won't have a problem, I repaired 3 valve cover bolts with these that a previous person damaged and it couldn't have went any easier. This is most definitely a good purchase specially when the name brand costs way more money and doesn't even come a drill bit anymore let alone half of the tools needed to make install a easy, this has it all.

Read amazon.com reviews, worked easy on aluminum for me.
Worked for me on an aluminum valve cover, ignition coil hold down bolt hole. Just be really careful when drilling aluminum not to go any deeper than the original hole ( use a toothpick or something as a gauge and mark the bits with good tape for a depth guide) ,because over doing it is really easy to do. Then when tapping be careful to stop when deep enough, you don't want to botton out in a blind hole and ruin the threads you just ran. It's a nice feeling to know these new stainless steel threads are stronger than the original aluminum ones ,that i stupidly stripped. Watched 4-5 youtube videos on helicoils. I wouldn't run a tap with a drill though, no way.

Right tool for the right job
I was forced to redo a head on an ATV because someone doesn’t know what torque specifications are. These worked out amazing. Head is back on, torqued properly. Coils are holding strong. I used a bit to permanent thread lock for extra security. Should hold out longer than the ATV.
