Amazing!
We bought one of these awhile back. Did a ton of research about types of paint that are acceptable. Made it a family event by painting each of our own hands and covering the hive (first picture top is backwards but is fixed now) We took quite a process to try and get the bees to accept the hive. It was recommended to leave them in the NUC the first few days while they get comfortable with the new environment. Then move a few frames over to the hive in the next week and wait to see if they acceptโฆ looks like they accepted. I then gave them a couple more weeks before adding the top of the hive. Updated 6/25/25 The bees have started to explore the top frames. I donโt see honey yet but I do see a few exploring. update 7/24/25 My bees have moved up top and are starting to work on filling the frames! Whoop! 8/13/25 Added a photo of the frames filling up more I can say itโs definitely worth it so far if you have the time and patience. Heads up- the directions arenโt fantastic. If you think something wonโt fit together make sure you have it going the right direction. We experienced that issue and I saw another review complaining that it didnโt fit but I can see in his picture he also has it facing the wrong direction.

Beyond My Expectations
Just got the hive today and I'm ecstatic. It came early, was simple to put together thanks to the video, and it's honestly beyond my expectations! Will update the review later in the season once we actually get bees in it! At this point it's a 10/10 for me though. Some of the other reviews noted a weird smell that I don't have present with mine here, it smells and feels like fresh wood. Seems to be of good quality and it's exactly the size I was expecting. All the pieces fit together as they were meant to. It looks exactly like the picture. The MayBee brood frames that pop up as "frequently bought together" are a perfect fit, in case you're questioning that. I also tested the autoframes just to get a feel and right now they're perfect, again gotta update when the bees do their work in it.

Solid value..... so far
This is only a post-build review. Hives arrive in May, so we'll see how they accept it and will update then. I got two of these and both arrived on time and to my surprise, not a single broken or lost part. In fact there were a couple spares in the box. Surprised because these are after all plastic, and they took a long journey. Instructions were helpful, but if you weren't good at puzzles as a kid, maybe ask someone for help. Pre drill all your screw holes and don't over-tighten. If you paint (I got schooled from a paint store employee with a beekeeping wife) get the lowest VOX exterior paint you can. Then get a case of beer, a case of sandpaper and a lawn-chair, then camp out in the garage all weekend sanding the wax off. They definitely wax the boxes well. You can shorten the process by using a paint scraper first and a power sander. NO chemicals. Just don't sand or paint the inside of the boxes - the edges should be painted. I used heavy clasps, but we have big critters where we are. These will be secured to a stand as well. Update to follow.

Bee's will not use these frames!
6 month review - TLDR - I HIGHLY recommend that you spend your money elsewhere on either genuine flows or a new set of super boxes. - assembled picture from November 22 - window picture from yesterday Purchased two of these "Golden Palace" hives back in November 2022 - they assembled ok but the instructions were lacking at best. There was also a strong chemical smell from whatever they coated the wood in. 6 months later the smell has gone. 2 stars awarded for assembly and craftsmanship because overall they did provide a wooden box. 1 star for value for money. The "flow" frames themselves operate as they should mechanically, however the Bees do not like them, they will not build wax on them nor fill them with honey. In the last 6 months we have tried several fixes to get them to accept the "golden palace" we have tried with and without the Q excluder, moved the two flow boxes to 6 different honey producing hives around the apiary as well as spending a full day adding my own wax to the frames and every single time the bees will not accept, work them nor add any honey. this coming weekend we will harvest 28 super boxes of honey from 30 hives this weekend, with the only non-producers being the two hives with the golden palace on them. not only have I lost money purchasing these boxes they have cost me ~80lbs of honey from the spring harvest. If the Bees will not work the frames and fill them with honey then they are just useless boxes that the bees will use as a hang out space. I HIGHLY recommend that you spend your money elsewhere on either genuine flows or a new set of super boxes.

Time will tell
Did not come with instructions but I watched the video and figured it out. Some of the wood was coated in beeswax but not all of it as described. Some of the wood split despite pre drilled holes. The roof is cute but I am concerned about hive beetles and other unwanted insects or even a small bird, making their way into the 4 holes in the top (there are 2 on each side). I have not used removed honey from the super yet, so I will update once I use the โkeyโ and give feedback.

It smells so good. And easy to assemble.
This thing goes together tight. It made the house smell so good when I was building it. The wood feels sturdy and sealed. Easy to assemble. I predrilled my parts. The only part that caught me off was I put the roof shingles in the wrong order once. I wish it came with the racks for the bottom but I got some in a tool kit I bought. I cant get over the wood smell. It smells so good. Definitely would buy again.

This Chinese knock-off is WORTH EVERY PENNY
After researching FloHives a lot, I learned they were invented in Australia by a clever guy who wanted to extra the honey without having to remove the frames and stick them in a centrifuge (less work, less mess and less violent to the bees). The original outfit in Australia still sells the flohives but they are like $2k. I ordered this Chinese knock-off and am thrilled. Its made of 100% cedar (it even smells amazing). Zero particle board, all quality. I also love the solid cedar roof that is pitched with gables at both ends. Most hives have flat roofs. This is way better: the attic is perfect for supplements/food and it keeps the hive dry. It comes in two boxes: the brood-box/standard hive, and the FloHive super. I ordered two hives for two different colonies. The company made one error: they sent me (4) boxes, but accidentally send (3) normal hive assemblies and only 1 super. It took me a week to get in touch with them in China but they were amazing and rectified the problem in days. A+++. Golden Palace = Zosolate Store (same thing). I will only buy from them now.
