Works great and fits well despite my use of the  Surface Pro 4 Case, Icarercase Crocodile Series Genuine Leather Back Cover with Pen Holder and Stand Function for Microsoft Surface Pro 4 12.3 Inch, Compatible with Surface Pro 4 Original Keyboard (Black) ­ .Sure, you can use any old USB hub with a Surface Pro 4, but having one flopping around is an annoyance. This adapter has a tiny footprint and fits flush against your Surface Pro 4. I personally bought it because (when not in tablet mode or on the go) I prefer using my  Qisan Gaming Keyboard Mechanical Wired Keyboard Cherry MX Brown Switch Backlight keyboard 68-Keys Mini Design White  instead of the  Microsoft Type Cover for Surface Pro 4 - Black (QC7-00001) . The Type Cover with keyboard and trackpad is VERY nice for what it is, but I vastly prefer mechanical keyboards and a "real" mouse where possible. I pair my keyboard with an ancient but still awesome  Logitech VX Revolution Ergonomic Design Cordless 2.4 GHz Wireless Laser Mouse for Notebooks/Laptops/PCs with Hyper-Fast Scrolling . The long-retired mouse goes for upwards of $200 these days (not a typo!) for a reason, and I haven't found a compact, Bluetooth mouse that is compelling enough to switch!If you need more than the single USB port provided on the Surface Pro 4, this is a compact way to add an additional port. To me, the network port is simply a bonus that comes in handy if I'm in a part of my home that gets spotty wifi reception. My old, long since discontinued  WD Livewire Powerline AV Network Kit 200Mbps - extend Internet to your HDTV  still works well to add wired connections wherever I need them, and I haven't felt a need to upgrade them with a more modern equivalent.

I ordered this for my Surface Pro 4. It works as expected. The unit installs on Windows 10 Pro with no need for additional drivers. It really is plug and play. This unit is well designed, although the USB ports are a touch close to each other, you probably won't be able to get two full sized SanDisk ultra's to fit side by side. Two SanDisk Ultra Flairs would be no problem. If you want to use 2 USB devices at once, make sure one of them has a slim/mini profile. They really could have made it a quarter inch wider and it would have fit two full sized USB drives with no issue.My biggest gripe, however, isn't with the USB ports. The built-in ethernet adapter is not gigabit, it runs at 10/100. This is extremely disappointing and keeps this unit from being the best solution on the market. I have tested/owned other USB 3 - Ethernet combos that are gigabit and cost less than this unit. Hopefully, they will correct these issues in Version 2 of this product.***UPDATE*** Ok, so after a little further review, I now know why the USB ports are so close together. If they had made them any further apart, the unit would partially block either the power or mini display port plugs. So that's not really their fault. Still curious about the choice of fast ethernet instead of gigabit though.

Great addition to my travel gear.Adds an additional USB A and a micro USB 3 por.Allows transfer of photos and files with the SD port.Note - must use original small charger. It's a touch too big to use with the larger charger.

An elegant solution to a nagging productivity problem. I use two wireless devices that require usb receivers (mouse and 3D navagator) and this device fits the angled side of my Surface Pro 4 perfectly. Very inexpensive, we'll made, and not bigger than it has to be. Thw power connector fits well directly below it. I can even use the display port above while the device it in...but I had to file down the size of the display port plastic housing around the plug to get it to fit...now it fits snuggly, nice and sturdy. I also use a Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth Headphones and all work together well. The SD reader function is an added bonus. I have yet to use the power connection to provide ample power to spinning HDs but intend to use a portable power bank if I need to.

It works but not as well as I expected. It seems to be finicky.I bought it because the wifi signal is practically nonexistent at my desk at work and I wanted to use my surface pro for multitasking. If I even barely nudge the Ethernet cable while it's plugged in it will either show that I'm not connected to a network or that I am but there is no internet on that network. It will work again after I unplug and plug it back in. It also pops up with an error saying that it doesn't recognize the device when I plug it in. Both USB ports seem to work but not for a heavy load (which was another reason that I purchased this). I wanted to have my 3TB external plugged in and back up my iPhone at the same time instead of wasting all of my valuable internal SSD space. This doesn't work with this device. (Yes my external HDD uses it's own power source.) It is usable for an external hardline connection even though it is touchy. It's not a total waste but doesn't quite meet my expectations.

I'd figured this would fit snuggly with my Surface Pro 4, but it's a bit loose. So every time I need to eject a USB device, I have to make sure that I hold down the Adapter before disconnecting the USB device that is attached to it.

It is a good product and gets the job done. However keep in mind that if you have a case on your SP 4 then it is not going to work. You won't be able to insert it in the port completely.

Works as advertised. Only wish there was a way to secure it better so I can unplug one of the two devices without impacting the other.
