Mask Maker

To be honest there will be spoilers here in this review. This movie i obtained because it seemed interesting,however i found the acting to be predictable and kinda weak. The story kinda reminds me of Texas Chainsaw meets Toolbox Murders. The story is some murders took place on the property. Several years down the road 2 kids buy a home & try to fix it up with some friends. They pull a staff up from the earth,causing a curse to be released. The monserously deformed creature comes up to rip the faces off of everyone there. 1 gruesome death after another but it seemed kinda dragged out or not acted well enough. I have tons of horror films from Demons to Bloodsucking Freaks to City of the Living Dead,Basket Case,etc. But something about this film just did jot grab me. But for the price 4$ it isn't that bad.

Wonderful kills and real tension when the bad guy is after the final girl, and even before that. The music is so good it's noticeable. A boy with a disease that prevents his skin from healing is resurrected by his voodoo witch mama and he comes back to life again to kill the college kids who just moved into "his" house. Many will see Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers and Leatherface, naturally. I saw Descent and The Town that Dreaded Sundown. Even with the borrowing I had no problem with the movie.

This movie was fun to watch although it drags on a bit at times. I have to say that I was more impressed with the acting in this low budget horror flick than the majority of the cookie-cutter characters I'm used to seeing in horror movies. If you are looking for a movie full of blood and guts, this may not be your cup of tea. But, if you want to watch a fun movie with good acting and some decent scares, this is your kind of movie. Definitely worth the watch.

It was, for the most part, all about thrills and suspense, brought about by paranormal circumstance. Biggest issue I have is when scary films add sex scenes for no reason than to garner a rating or attract non- horror fans. Useless. Otherwise, worth a viewing.

Pretty typical "blast-from-the-past-won't-die" gore flicks, it was decently entertaining. One and only significant gripe is how some uneducated demon-child that's been entombed for decades through the better part of the automobile revolution age has come to life and has mastered the skills to drive a cop car. Lame...

First off if you don't like cliches don't even bother watching this it's full of them but considering I like a good old school slasher it's right up my alley.The story essentially starts with a scene where a french speaking witch (so I assume its based in New Orleans) impales a baby with a staff during a ritual she is subsequently killed by a man. Years later a young couple, Jennifer and Evan who buy a house and 40 acres of land for a bargain which they intend to renevate and sell off. Jennifer finds the house is full of valuable antiques and becomes interested in the history meanwhile Evan finds a graveyard at the back of the house and one grave has the staff that we saw in the beginning of the movie fixed into the ground. Evan being a moron pulls out the staff and awakens the Mask Maker, who is later through a series of flashbacks and diary readings revealed to be the deformed bastard son of the plantation owner and one of the servants who is also the witch we see performing the ritual at the beginning. It is then revealed that he saw his mother killed and now brought back from the dead by voodoo seeks revenge. To cover his facial deformaties which we never fully see but get glimpses of (I love things that are left to the imagination) he kills Jennifer and Evan's friends, who come over to help renovate the place and wears their faces as a mask. A local man who turns out to be the father of the baby used as a sacrifice and the man who killed the Mask Maker and his mother comes over to the house for a final showdown and provides a very good ending.All in all I'm very pleased with this film the effects are good and it's nice and violent.

I quite enjoyed this film. Having read some of the negative reviews maybe I came into the film without any expectation.It starts off with a couple moving into a large house with secrets. There are so many clichés in this film that I lost count and it is very predictable but I generally liked the plot. The killer basically kills people and steals their faces wearing them as masks. I do find it hilarious that when other people think they are talking to their dead mate when its actually the killer is wearing their face as a dodgy looking mask as if you wouldn't notice.Some decent actors in this like Treat Williams and Michael Berryman.It's not Oscar winning nor is it boring. It's just a fun predictable horror with a slightly different storyline.No extras on the DVD

This film is as average as it gets, there's nothing original here, same old characters, same old cliches, basically trying to rip off Texas chainsaw massacre and with all that knowledge and references and stuff to explore, they make this garbage, why is it so hard to make a decent horror film these days, rinse repeat that's all it is, Berrymans is in it, but even he can't save this film, avoid guys and go with a chainsaw sesh instead.

I orderd this film as used and ive gotta say im well happy it came in its package it had never been opened and not a scratch in sight ..delivery was fairly quick too.. watched it the same night n its a good film .trying abit to hard to be like the chainsaw masacare but im glad I orderd it good film n keeps you wtching....no regrets on buying

The only 101 film I actually bought. The rest of the 101 film production films are not worth watching let alone buying. Look on the back dvds for the company who release films. Buy 101s at your peril.
