Good book
This is a great book with many great tips and a lot of good advice. I would suggest not buying books used though. When I received this one the first 12 pages were gone-the entire first chapter! Disappointing.

if you want to feel great, buy this book.
I read this book with deliberation and care and did not find any redundancies or unnecessary text at all, as a previous reviewer suggested. Instead I found a remarkable roadmap for not only controlling depression and anxiety, but finding the reward of a yoga practice on the other side. I didn't believe this going in, but was delighted to have let Amy change my heart and mind from suffering to a much better place. She is such an amazing healer. Buy this book if you want to feel great.

Yoga for Depression
This book is a fantastic contribution to the wholistic healing movement. It is well researched and well-written. Amy Weintraub explains the condition of depression from an Eastern standpoint very well. Then she gives solutions to help relieve depression and explains them with ease. Her solution is obviously yoga. A little bit of daily discipline is all that is required. I am looking forward to to a better and healthier way of thinking. Thank you Amy.

Not a cure all
Exercise is good for depression but do not expect it to be a cure all. I returned the book because I decided not to take the yoga teacher training class; some parts of yoga work for me, but not all. Each person needs to pick and choose what parts are a fit and what sections are not depending on individual physical and mental requirements and needs.

Must read for anyone with depression or anxiety
Amazing book! The author did a fantastic job of explaining the differences between depression and anxiety & how they need individual postures and treatments. As someone who has suffered from anxiety most of my life, within a week I was already making and seeing changes! Must Read!

Yoga for Depression
I have found this book to be life changing and would recommend it to any one who has searched for a method of healing. Amy's writing is strong sincere and insightful enough to deal with mental suffering relating to emotional trauma. Amy describes 'suffering' as 'resistance to pain' and describes how yoga can be used to tackle and aleviate emotional pain whilst facing it in a gentle and compassionate but highly practical way. What she describes works. Often people want to overcome distortions from their past but are unable to do so. Amy shows us a way.Perhaps it was just the right time for me to have read it, I do not suggest that it is a miracle cure but I Will treasure this book as it has provided a breakthrough for me beyond measure. Enjoy!

Extremely Helpful and Well Written
As a long-time sufferer of depression who has spent years on medication as well as counseling, this book provides a great deal of information on the healing nature of yoga and meditation. Amy Weintraub certainly seems to understand the dark days firsthand and she offers positive advice on how a yoga practice can help quiet the mind as well as energize the body.I did buy the book expecting it to have a full yoga program in it, but that is not the purpose of the book. It does have many yoga practices and they have been helpful but her intent is to explain the connection between our bodies and emotions and how yoga can help. She recommends taking a yoga class or using a book to truly learn yoga properly. She provides a fantastic list of resources at the end of the book for yoga websites, retreats, books, and cds.I highly recommend this book.
