Decent pen - upgrade firmware first else bluetooth will be problematic
Quality box and pen, simple to get started but you need to upgrade the firmware on the pen else it will be problematic getting the pen to connect via bluetooth.Accuracy good, issue with voice recording on mac as not supported so need to do this via phone (bit of a pain).Lightweight and comfortable pen. You can print the pages out yourself if you have a colour laser printer. If you are wanting a recording pen and one for transcription then I would jeartily recommend this device.

Works better than expected!
I am very happy with this purchase. I was worried after reading so many mixed reviews but the pen does exactly what I want it to do. Pairing is a little unintuitive but I got used to it. No problems with battery life.

Poorly Designed so bad the cap will not stay on it., does not work as advertised, at all Actually
I’m marked this as MONEY LOST I’ll never see again. I purchased this to replace my Livescribe 3 (that died). This First of 2 Aegir’s I through was bad , with cap and function issues they replaced it quickly but, Nope, it is a poorly designed product. (I feel not field tested because the issues it has should not have been in the production model. I went through the semester and it Barely worked as a regular pen and has NEVER RECORDED ANYTHING, I always have to reconnect and reset set it up. Failed on; 2 IPad Pro’s, IMac 27”, MacBook Pro and my wife’s MacBook Pro

Small Livescribe has poor quality, low battery life, and no built-in audio.
Originally, Livescribe was looking to create a device with a smaller, more svelte appearance that could both be more comfortable in the hands of their users and at the same time, by more closely resembling traditional writing instruments, reduce the potential discomfort felt by others who are around smartpens. With a smaller, more pen like form factor, the Aegir is intended to fix these problems. But, those requirements limit the number of users for whom this pen would work. There's also a ton of quality issues with this pen. I've seen a lot of places, review sites like Netwise Life saying the same thing - it's all over the place. The battery was DOA, there was no audio. These problems are unfixable by LS until they redesign the hardware itself. Back to Amazon this goes.

Great Product for Avid Note Takers
I work as an implementation consultant. Part of my job is managing the implementation project and keeping up with what has been done and what needs to be done. Taking notes is a big part of my job. Over the years, I have tried many different note-taking options: OneNote, plain text file, a plain notebook, etc. I have found that it helps me to remember things if I write them down, as opposed to typing them into an electronic note (such as OneNote). I think this has to do with having to think about what I am about to write (so it comes out legible and intelligible) as I am writing. However, writing on plain paper, or a regular notebook was not as productive as I would have to scan the page or transcript my hand-written notes into an electronic file.I purchased the LiveScribe 3 back in 2015 and used it for a while. The problem I had with that pen was that it is so bulky it made my hand tired and sore after a day of taking notes. I ended up putting the pen in my desk and not touching it for several years, other than to charge it up once in a while.Several months back, I happened to stumble across an ad (on Facebook, I think) for the Aegir pen from LiveScribe. I read the customer reviews on Amazon as well as the product specifications from LiveScribe. At first, I was not convinced as to how well the pen would work, mostly due to many of the reviews on Amazon. Every few days, I would look back over the reviews and product specs, trying to decide if this was something that would benefit meFinally, in mid-January 2020, I bought the Aegir Black Dolphin Professional Edition (as I thought a teal or purple pen would not look as "professional") Once the pen bundle was delivered, I played with the pen a little using the journal I got when I purchased my LiveScribe 3. I did not spend a lot of time playing with the pen; I mainly just wanted to familiarize myself with how the pen would work with the phone app and how it would feel in my hand. I then switched out the fine point nib in the Aegir with a medium point nib from my Livescribe 3, as I tend to prefer a heavier stroke of ink. After having the pen for about a week, I finally got a chance to really use it while I was working with a client during an on-site visit. I have to say, LiveScribe did not disappoint. While the whole system is not perfect, it is worth the money I spent on the bundle. The only thing I am uncertain of at this point is what I am going to do with the aDNA stickers. I will need to do some more research on that, because I am just not getting what they might be used for.The Aegir pen has a good weight to it; it is heavier than many normal ink pens, as one would expect with 128M storage. For me, the weight is okay since I tend to prefer a heavier pen anyway. The size of the barrel is bigger than most pens. But, it not so big that the pen becomes difficult to write with. For me, the pen fits well in the hand; better than the LiveScribe 3, in fact. After the first full day of use, my hand ached just a little. By the second day, my hand no longer ached at all. So, it appears you may need to go through a short "adjustment period."The pen writes smoothly with the Zebra ink refills (Zebra does make a decent ink). However, I learned that I should not have attempted to use an ink cartridge that had sat in my desk for about five years. By the third day of writing notes with the client, the pen started acting like it was running out of ink. I went to a local office supply store and purchased a package of fine point refills. After that, I was able to lay the pen down on my notebook with the cap off, then pick it up and start writing again with no skipping of the ink. However, I did have instances where the pen did not pick up completely what I was writing. If you look at the image of the sheet, you see "skips" in the letters, making the words difficult to read. However, I think this had to do with the position I held the pen in rather than with the fine point ink itself. I may go back to the medium point ink at some point. But I am going to have to use up the four fine point ink refills first.During a remote training session between the client and one of my co-workers, I got the opportunity to test how the audio recording works with the Aegir pen. I started the app on my phone, made sure the pen was connected to my phone, and then tapped the record "button" in my notebook. The app immediately began recording. After the training session was over, I played back just a little of the recording to see how well this worked. The spoken words were clear and easily understood, considering that this was recorded in a room full of people with another person on speaker phone. One of the other reviews complained that the cap did not fit on the back of the pen. Another review mentioned that you have to press harder to get the cap to snap into place. I concur with the second review; press the cap down until it snaps into place. The cap will stay there until you remove it to re-cap the pen.If you are an avid note-taker and prefer to hand write your notes, you will want to give serious consideration into buying the Aegir pen. You will not be disappointed. The client I was visiting is more of a "techie" than I am, and was familiar with the LiveScribe pens, having owned one in the past. We talked about the Aegir pen before I left their office at the end of the week. He is interested in getting one for himself (where's my commission for this, LiveScribe??).

Organizers best friend and must have
Great idea for taking notes in a meeting. Never forget the notes taken, List made, and memos again. After I sync the pen with my phone I can look back at them even when I leave them in my locker at school, on my desk at work, in the car, lost them on the go.

The lack of an internal microphone more of a setback than anticipated.
After being an echo user for many years, I found that the inconvenience of not having the microphone in the pen was a much more significant setback than I anticipated. Not being a student in a lecture hall, and not always sitting down when needing to take audible notes; I find it cumbersome to coordinate the iPhone app to record sound. Using Dolphin Pro. I knew about this feature at the time of purchase and bought it more as a test. the pen is smaller and more natural than the echo, but what I really need is an Echo pen in the Dolphins dress. Would be willing to spend up to 3-4x the current price for something that has excellent build quality, internal microphone and no display. It should be possible, but maybe not a market for it.

Take Digital Notes the old fashioned way.
Awesome device that allows the user to take notes just as she always has, with a ball point pen and paper; but, stores the digital page on a computer or tablet or phone via bluetooth. Indispensable for the professional.
