If you don't love it, you are not gonna like it.
WARNING: if you are looking to become very emotionally intelligent just from reading this book you are looking for the wrong book. Reading this helps you understand what emotional intelligence is and how to use it in specific situations. If you want to become emotionally intelligent you have to put the work in and learn. Also, take notes while reading because you are going to want to come back and look at what was said without reading the whole thing again.Harvard Business Review guide to Emotional intelligence is a book of repeating valuable information on how to lead people through emotion. If you are looking to get more out of the people working around you this book is for you. You will not find amazing literature, but that is not why you would be reading this book. It is meant for you to understand the people that you work with and interact with every day. The book consists of several different articles from the Harvard Business Review on Emotional intelligence. These articles help you understand your emotions better, how to deal with the people around you, and also how to help others around you. Emotional intelligence has an underlying theme: be aware of the people around you and yourself, and be specific in everything. The main points hit in the book are dealing with emotions (others and your own), managing and influencing everyone in your workplace, how to negotiate, and how to get through tough situations. It is not the business side of things that is talked about in this book, but the psychological and human side of things. In order for you to be successful as a leader, you need to understand how the people working for you and with you feel, and how to effect those emotions. If you don't like repetition you will get frustrated reading this book, but you get several different points of view on the same ideologies. The themes and topics in the articles are covered several times. This can be a good thing because that will allow you to review the important information several times throughout the reading. Each time something is repeated in an article, you get a new point of view. Personally, this was my favorite part. I got a chance to review the information I was interested in, and see it from another point of view because of the author of the articles changes. You have to be passionate about either learning new things about people or leadership to read this book. If not it is going to be a very excruciating read.

Fascinante lectura
