Belt works perfectly for Samsung dryer DV218AGW/XAA
~2 month update: On a unrelated product note, I just found out today that Bill Newberry has passed about a month ago. I mentioned his name in my original review about Youtube videos I reviewed in preparation for disassembling my dryer in order to install the belt. Although I didn't rely on his video when I finally did the work, I like to say that Bill's videos are awesome. He is down-to-earth and I like his confidence giving out straight shooting information about his experience with dryers. I remember his videos also covered Samsung dryers so that was very helpful. I also remember viewing his other dryer videos and I really like his sense of humor, personality and civility. He is like a good friendly neighbor that I wish I had the opportunity to meet. Cheers Bill! Here's to you and your family! :) Just a short note, my dryer is still working so yay! However I think the real test is if the belt lasts as long as the original. If not, I now have a backup belt from partshousesupply. Original review: I have an 8 year old Samsung gas dryer, model no: DV218AGW/XAA and it broke down on Friday Sept. 23, 2016. I didn't know why it happened. The dryer just stopped but the control panel lights were still on and the time remaining showed an hour and three minutes. The clothes were still wet but they were also very warm to hot. I tried many times to start the dryer and even tried waiting a bit and unplugging and re-plugging the power cord but none of it worked. Finally I realized that rather than try to re-start the dryer, the higher priority was to bring my clothes to a laundromat and use their dryer instead. I didn't want to be stuck with wet clothes that would become stinky and require another wash cycle. After the laundromat trip, I then searched on Youtube to see how to diagnose my dryer. Sure enough one of the top problems is a broken dryer belt. A sure fire way to check it is to unscrew two screws at the back, sliding off the top cover and looking for the belt in the middle of the tumbler. Later on in the evening I went to two big DIY stores and brought my broken belt and also the flexible aluminum hose connected to the exhaust since I removed it to see how the belt is connected at the bottom. The orange store did not carry any dryer belts but I did buy a replacement hose. The blue store did carry belts but there were two issues. First is their belts have four ribs, mine has five. Second is the circumference didn't match. I measured mine to be around 92 inches. So much for trying to get it fixed soon. During the night, I searched online to find the right belt and discovered that I should get 6602-001655. Man that's a mouthful. For some strange reason, Amazon has two listings and one has a lower starting price. I couldn't figure out the difference. I was thinking: It's a belt made of rubber, has some kind of metal wires inside for stability, has five ribs and has the right circumference; What is the difference? I ended up choosing the lower priced one and bought two from two different sellers. The first seller, PartAdvicecom, had the lowest price but had an expected delivery of the beginning of the second week to middle of third week. The second seller, partshousesupply, was just about 30 cents more but had an expected delivery of end of first week to middle of second week. Guess which one arrived first? I researched Friday night and finally placed my order past midnight, technically on Saturday. My order with PartAdvicecom arrived first and arrived super earlier than expected! It arrived on Monday just after the weekend. Thank you so much PartAdvicecom for shipping fast. I was able to fix my dryer the same day and get it working again. I found out one reason PartAdvicecom shipped so fast is because they mailed my order on Saturday and I am also thankful for USPS for processing and delivering mail on the weekend so that it would arrive on Monday. Meanwhile for my other order, the shipping label was created on Monday and the item finally accepted by USPS on Tuesday. USPS says expected delivery is Friday, so it's still good. As for the belt, I reviewed Youtube videos by Bill Newberry and AppliancePartsPro many times during the weekend to prepare. I eventually relied on AppliancePartsPros because the video showed every part being removed and also put back on. Although the videos showed how to route the belt, it was a bit harder than it look because I really had to push the idler pulley back and also stretch the belt a bit to loop it on the motor. And I did this all by feel because the tumbler is in the way, but it has to be there otherwise there is no dryer! Fortunately while I was taking apart the dryer as directed by the videos, the tumbler can be easily removed so that I can see inside and feel how the belt should be routed. Additionally I was able to get rid of more lint. I took a long time to get everything working again because I spent a lot of time cleaning out lint. For an 8 year old dryer, it was about time I learned how to take it apart and clean out the lint. I also cleaned the exhaust pipe of lint by using these flexible and connectable sticks with a circular brush at one end and the other end connected to a power drill to eventually push the lint out the other side. Since I was replacing the flexible aluminum hose connecting the dryer's exhaust to the exhaust pipe, I figured I might as well clean the exhaust pipe too. The belt as delivered by PartAdvicecom came in a sealed slightly heavy duty clear plastic bag. The belt looked good and fit perfectly and more importantly my dryer works again. Thank you PartAdvicecom for selling this and for fast Saturday delivery! I appreciate it very much!

Perfect Match for my Samsung Dryer
We bought our electric Samsung Dryer (DV218AEW/XAA) new in December 2009. We've had no problems with either the dryer or the washer... It's been approximately 3 years 8 months to today until the dryer stopped working. The dryer's electronics would turn on, but the motor/drum would not spin. No sounds... No error codes... Nothing... After looking around a bit online, people said it was common for the dryer belt to fail. After removing the top panel, sure enough, the belt was loose (no tension), cracking and falling apart. Obviously the belt had failed. After some more googling, I found this part number from the Samsung website. This part was labeled correctly online and fit my machine perfectly. I was able to replace the belt myself (very time consuming considering you have to disassemble parts of the dryer). The belt appeared to be identical in fit and finish to the OEM part. The bag that the part shipped in indicated 4 other dryer brands... none of which included samsung. However, this appears to be a somewhat universal part and was high quality. I highly recommend the seller and the part as it fit my Samsung dryer perfectly. Also, the price could not be beaten with free shipping. Many other places were charging north of $15 plus shipping for the same product.

Good price, quick delivery, works like new
Best price for this piece. Note that all that comes is the belt, no instructions, so if you are replacing this yourself it would be best if it is not the first time you've done this. Arrived even a little earlier than suggested, a surprise given the fires and storms that seem to have been so disruptive during the time we ordered this. Also confusing was the different labels. Can't find it now but the part description and picture on the Samsung site did not look or sound right, but was the correct part. It was labeled something like a reduction belt when I wanted it to say drum belt, and the picture looked like maybe a six inch piece where I was expecting more like what we got. All that being said, it installed fairly easily, and is working fine.

Definitely OEM part and worth DIY
I read a few reviews that questioned whether these were OEM or not due to the packaging and nothing on the belt. Mine had the Samsung retail sticker on the plastic and the OEM part number in white on the belt. As many have mentioned, this is an easy DIY project. There are several videos out that can guide you and just know that your Samsung model might be slightly different, but nothing that you won't easily figure out. I will say the best way to get the belt back on the pulley correctly is from behind, by pulling out the plate around the vent pipe in the rear of the unit. I saw at least one video where they did it from the front. Good luck with that.

fit our dryer as expected
Fits our machine perfectly. 7 year old machine and we are on the 3rd or 4th belt. Original belt broke in first year, so at least these last longer. Others never fully broke, but we already had the machine apart and noticed how poor of condition they were in (once due to heating element burn out, and otherwise having to clean out excessive lint in the cabinet trying to prevent future element issues). Its been over 1.5 years since last time we opened up the machine, rearranged the dryer exhaust at that point so hopefully that was enough to remedy the excessive lint in the machine, otherwise not planning on opening it to check on the belt any time soon.

Fixed my dryer
Well, it's a belt for a dryer drum. When your dryer belt snaps at the start of baseball season, that's not good news for anyone. Especially when baseball season starts while it's still 40 degree and rainy around here, and air drying isn't feasible. Dryer disassembly took a while but everything was back to normal after installation, and all it took was this belt, a few hand tools, youtube video of my particular dryer disassembly, and time. Nice not to have to call a repair person. FWIW when the original belt broke I happened to be in the room with the dryer, and there was a loud bang as it snapped (and likely whipped against the inside of the machine) which helped me diagnose the issue with the drum no longer spinning.

So far so good!
Not that difficult to install just laborious to take the dryer apart to reach the location were the belt goes. Was tighter than on the YouTube video definitively need two hands. As for longevity will have to see how long it last! So far so good!
