This product is a reasonable value. You will need to build a table around it if your pieces are 12" long or more. I also found that the sand paper tube rides up the spindle as you use it. Buy an oversized washer that extends past the sand paper to keep it where it should be.

My HF Central Machinery 14" Osc. Spindle Sander resembles the Powertec 1400 model
The picture here resembles the Triton/ShopFox/WEN/Ridgid model, but the one I got from Harbor freight resembles the Powertec 1400. They were probably made in the same factory in China. I got mine from Harbor Freight a few days ago, and today I unboxed it and tried it out. I was able to attach my vacuum hose with no problems, and it seems to work well. The sawdust is minimal, with good suction. It comes with 80 grit sanding sleeves, so for finer work you will have to purchase 120 grit sleeves or finer. With the sander and my loud shop vac running, I wear "ear muff" hearing protection while using the sander. Out of the box it had a healthy layer of oil on the milled cast iron table, which made black marks on the white pine I tested it with. I cleaned off the bulk of the oil with WD-40 and paper towels, and sprinkled fine sawdust on the deck to soak up any remaining oil. Be sure to use the washer for the appropriate sized spindle you are using, and crank down on the opposite-threaded top nut to make the rubber spindle expand to hold the sandpaper sleeve tightly, and keep it from riding up the spindle. So far, it looks like it will do the job for me in my woodworking hobby shop.

Poor quality
I purchased this product as a long "wanted" item for my shop and tackled a project requiring arches in the construction. It performed as advertised for about thirty hours. The brushes wore out quickly and caused a contact to fall off of the armature assembly which resulted in a defective motor. Now I own a "boat anchor". I've had the product for a year and a half so it is out of warranty. It is not a machine that I use often and when I needed it, it fell apart. My suggestion, step up and buy a higher quality product because, you get what you pay for.

Awesome - but shop around for best price
This is a same cloned Chinese spindle sander sold by Triton/Shopfox/Ryobi/Rigid/Central Machinery/Harbor freight and others. It's the same unit in different colors ranging in price from $99 to $179.I've used the unit for over a year and the lower timing belt failed (it was worn out and slipping) but was easily replaced and is back to work. It has probably well over a hundred hours of use and has never given me a problem until the belt failed. The accessories cover everything you need to use the sander and are of good quality. The wrench is pretty cheap but still works fine. Got mine for $89 on sale and is one of the best buys I've ever made considering the source of the unit.It comes with pretty course sanding spindles but buy a set of 150 grit spindles and it will give you the best of course & fine work. The dust collection works well and the motor has adequate power to get the job done without bogging down. Repairs are simple and the belts and motor brushes are easy to access and replace.
