Mia Monroe experienced dealing with cold-hearted, physically and emotionally abusive people throughout her life. It wasn't until a frightening happening that she decided to run away from her past. Mia Monroe is a very sweet, kind and likeable character. She always tried her best which is why I think she grew the most in the entire book. She has been through the most difficult and painful situations but she still survives. Not only was she abused, she is also bulimic. She is still fighting an ongoing battle and I admire her strength. I feel for her. We get to meet Mia's love interest when she goes to stay at Golden Oaks for two weeks. Jordan Matthews comes across as a jerk when we are first introduced to him. I think we needed the dual POVs because we could really see how good of a person he truly is when he takes care of those he loves. The main plot of the book is about their relationship and the struggles they had to face personally and as a couple. I really liked how there were no unnecessary drama. There was no cheating involved. Both characters were very loyal towards each other. It didn't matter that Jordan slept with a ton of girls in the past because he remained faithful to Mia when their relationship progressed. I also liked how patient and understanding Jordan was towards Mia's situation. Another character I really liked was Jordan's pet, Dozer. I smiled whenever he appeared and I really enjoyed reading the book when the main characters interact with him. I think the story buildup to the climax was a little lacking. Forbes has always been a threat since he was Mia's ex-boyfriend and doesn't accept their breakup. I felt like he should have appeared a few more times in the book. Other than that, I didn't like the lack of communication when Jordan found out the truth about Mia's mother because even Mia commented on his mistake. For the most part, I really enjoyed the book. I loved the characters and their relationship with one another. The storyline was done really well and it even got my heart pumping. An impressive new adult story that you should read!

5 Shiny Stars! "It's easy to be worthless to someone, but to matter to someone...well, I think that would be harder." ~ Mia ~ I adore Samantha Towle, I adored the Mighty Storm and Wethering the Storm. If you are picking this one up thinking it will be like these books, be warned this one is very different. Sure you have the smokin' hot, sexy main characters, but this is were the similarities end. We begin this book is a very strange and dark place. Mia has just lost her only parent, heart attack. Devastating right? Nope this is a reason to truly celebrate, in Mia's unfortunate case. You see Mia has been keeping secrets and hiding her pain away since before she can remember. On the surface Mia is a beautiful, intelligent, well mannered young woman. She is attending Harvard and is working towards becoming a doctor, first year pre-med to be exact. But looks can be deceiving. Mia is in a very bad place both emotionally and physically. When her father passes away, Mia is forced to face the truth. Even though she has a boyfriend Forbes, (don't even get me started on this guy), she is truly alone in this world. A startling revelation, turns her world upside down, and her journey begins anew. Mia finds the strength within, to break free. Finally willing and able to break the cycle that has crippled her, her entire life. "I do believe that everyone has a pain and a coping ability that is individual to them, and if you want to feel sorry for yourself because of the hand life dealt you, then that's your god given right - I won't judge you for that." ~ Mia ~ Enter Jordan (Tattooed Adonis). This man, Holy Hot Batman! Bad boy, sexier then sin, mad skills in the bedroom, covered in tats. Everything a woman could ever want and need right? Well only if you are into being short term. Jordan is a love' em and leave' em type of guy. "When it comes to women, I put my dick in and keep my heart out. It's the easiest way." ~ Jordan ~ He has never in his entire life been in a relationship, never even been on a date. When he meets Mia, everything he thinks he knows about himself, and love begins to shift. "Sometimes that's all it takes. Just one person to turn everything on its head. Remind you of the person you were" ~ Jordan ~ "I love you, Mia. Every part of you. The best and worst. The broken, the perfect. The bad, the good. You're it for me babe. I see only you." ~ Jordan~ OMG, swoon much here ladies?? The love story that unfolds in Trouble will melt your heart, make you swoon, make you cry. It is a story that will give you hope, that even though you are broken, you are not unfix-able. Trauma, and sickness can be overcome. Truly healing and moving forward is possible. Even the most terrifying nightmares can be forgotten. "Pain of the past never goes away, you just find a way to deal with it. And the future...all the promise it holds...that's what keeps you moving forward, and out of the darkness." ~ Mia ~ This book delves into some pretty heavy issues, abuse, eating disorders, rape, death, love, however Samantha Towle handled the subject matter beautifully. She balances the horrific with the beautiful. The abuse scenes are painful and difficult to read, but they truly touch you as a reader. Mia's pain and heartbreak were mine as well, and I found myself misty eyed more than once while reading Trouble. I found myself totally engrossed in this book. I love stories of redemption, love, and healing. I adore a story where you are rooting for the underdog, Mia was an underdog from page one. This book was a little bit of everything, but a whole lot of Beautiful. I will revisit this one again and again. I fell completely in love with Jordan, Mia, and Dozer. I cannot recommend this book enough. Trouble is beautiful, heart breaking, and fantastic.

NA Romance Features Healing Hero & Heroine
I really enjoyed this NA romance featuring Mia, a victim of domestic violence, and Jordan, a young man whose had his heartbroken at least once too many - and not in the traditional way. When these two meet, sparks fly and both of them have to be willing to take a chance on one another. I thought that Jordan and Mia were relateable characters and were both interesting. I always enjoy a story of healing and second chances, and this definitely fits into that category. I also enjoyed that the story allowed for perspective from both characters, instead of the trend of "first perspective from the female only" trend that's saturating the NA market right now. When I read a romance, I crave the thoughts of the guy too so It's a nice change up. Jordan is particularly cute - he's just all boy. I liked his dialogue with his dog, his dad, his inner thoughts... he was just charming and real. Ultimately this book hovers between a three and a four star to me, despite its good qualities. I didn't like certain things about it and felt there were a few things that were left unresolved or seemed absurd. Mostly though, it was a solid and entertaining read. Read below for discussion notes on spoilers. ** SPOILERS SPOILERS ** Do not advance if you don't want spoilers. I found Mia as a student about to be a doctor fairly unrealistic. She didn't seem like a doctor to me, and it's unlikely she would have been in the relationship she was in while being a med student. I find it doubtful that the controlling boyfriend would allow her to be this successful. She would be surrounded by people constantly. How would he get away with it? And she would be surrounded by people trained to look for injuries and abuse. Her fellow med students believe the old doorknob routine? It just felt a little forced. I was really, really annoyed when Jordan attacks MIa's ex... but then leaves the hospital knowing that the ex is there with Mia. What?!! This was very ridiculous. What happens next to Mia had me completely furious. A TSTL moment for the hero on that one. He could have at LEAST said something to someone in charge before running out of the hospitable, leaving his vulnerable true love exposed. Last, I just did NOT like the twist in this story. The reason Mia goes to Colorado is totally fine.. but the coincidence of what she learns there was just too ridiculous for me to take in with any seriousness. "Of all the hotel joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine." Right.... it was just too absurd. Without giving away the climax of the story, I just felt like it was pretty lame. Not only was the coincidence just too extraordinary to me, I felt like the excuses they gave for the decisions the mother made were outlandish.

I loved being able to see both sides and their inner ...
4.5 Stars This story is told from Mia and Jordan’s point of view. I loved being able to see both sides and their inner thoughts allowed me to really relate and connect with the characters. When I started this story I thought it would just be a hot little read, which was fine with me, but I loved the level depth this story held. We first meet Mia when she is learning of her father’s death. My first impression of Mia was that she was obviously damaged. After finding out her father passed and feeling relief I knew there must have been some type of abuse. After learning of the level of abuse she had to withstand my heart broke for her. Then to see that Mia enters into another relationship with her first boyfriend only to have him physically and abuse her too, I wanted to scream for her to run. Thankfully, Mia does eventually run after learning somethings about her past. After driving for two days, across seven states she finally arrives in Colorado. In need of a hotel she is referred to Golden Oaks by a diner employee. Mia is very nervous, anxious and on guard after surviving her past, she isn’t used to be attracted or feeling anything around men. "Then, quite literally, the epitome of everything a girl like me should stay away from walks through the door directly behind the reception desk.” Jordan isn’t looking for a girlfriend or romance, he is just looking for his next good time. He has his own demons and the last thing he is interested in settling down with anyone. When first meeting Jordan he may seem like an arrogant jerk, but I could quickly see there was more to him. He rescued and loved his dog, Dozer, so I knew there was a good guy in there somewhere. Mia and Jordan are both so awkward around each other due to Mia’s fear and Jordan trying to maintain his distance, but they are drawn together by Dozer. This circumstance allows them to connect and get to know each other without any pressure. I loved this part since Mia needed this time to build trust and Jordan need to develop and understand what he was feeling. As I was saying I am so surprised by the amount of depth and heart in this story. My heart just broke for Mia and Jordan. I loved how well the characters were developed and their relationship to each other progressed. Everything built at a perfect pace and I loved how they healed. I highly recommend this read. There is lots of heart and love in this story. There are deep issues addressed and honestly it isn’t an easy read. There were so many moments that broke my heart, but I love when a book that can make me feel. I don’t want to discourage anyone from reading it by saying this one made me feel, because there were also moments that had me laughing at their inner thoughts and Jordan had a lot of swoon worthy moments.

Sweet Read
MILD SPOILERS INCLUDED: This book was really beautiful. It definitely had its dark moments, but what came after is what made it a great read. ****************************************************************************************************************** Whats it about: Our heroine, Mia, has only known relationships to be physically and emotionally abusive. It started with her father, Oliver, who finally died of a heart attack. The scars he left on her went far more than just physical. Not knowing what to do with herself after his death, Mia finally got out and tried to enjoy living life for the first time without the father she always hated. Almost right away she went into her very first relationship with Forbes, a student studying law. He seemed absolutely perfect, that is until he started abusing her. Per Forbes "the abused becomes the abuser" in his case and hers "the abused...stays abused" (or something like that). After catching him cheating, of all things to send her over the edge, this pretty much did. Then when he came to confront her, he tries to rape her and promises her other horrible things. Mia flees and sets out to find her long lost mother who she thought died when she was a baby. She found out that the mother didn't die when she found papers while going through her dad's stuff. Those papers contained an address. Our hero, Jordan, is the typical hard core party guy character. Dark past, dark present with an expected dark future. He feels like he is the black sheep of the family and hates himself for the problems he has caused his father. His mom passed away not too long ago and his father and he have a strained, but good relationship. He runs the towns nicer hotel with his father, who owns it. His dad is a wonderful man and is always trying to convince Jordan he's a wonderful son. Jordan, totally disagreeing, finds his therapy in sleeping with tons of nameless women. He laughs at the idea that he would ever want to be in a relationship with anyone. He has never even had a girlfriend. So they meet when Mia needs a place to stay while she looks in the town that's shown in her mother's address. She obviously picks Jordan's hotel. Right away Jordan instantly knows Mia is special, but refuses to hurt or embarrass his dad again with sleeping with another guest (the last one was married). These two share a deep connection almost instantly. They both feel just a physical pull toward each other. Their relationship takes time, becoming friends first, with Jordan being a great guy and always letting her make the first move, scared he'll push her too far and too fast. I don't want to say much of anything else, so that I don't ruin the story, but I can promise that the love that these two build is so amazing. You'll be laughing, crying and shouting at them throughout the whole thing. I totally recommend this book to people that love an abused heroine and a party bad boy turned 180. There is also a great "surprise" in the book that I didn't see coming. Which was great, because for the most part (waohhh, waohhhh), I found the book a little predictable. Which isn't a bad thing - I still wanted to read it, even though I pretty much knew where it was going with the story. Even though the subject matter was dark as far as abuse, hurting yourself, and hating yourself went, it really wasn't a dark read. It was one of those that start at that person's bottom, so you only get to see the ride up. I do very much recommend this read.

5 I’m not crying, I have something in my eye – stars.
Mia Monroe has never known anything but abuse. It’s what she lived through with her father, it’s what she’s living through with Forbes. Long gone are the days when she dreams of escaping her life, breaking her cycle of abuse. She knows this is what her life will be. When you’re worthless you deserve nothing. It’s a lesson she’s been taught her whole life. Jordan Matthews isn't about to let his heart get in the way of a good time. He’s seen how broken loving someone can leave you. He’s played life fast and loose. He’s paid the price for it, his family has paid the price for it. Going it alone is the only way he wants it to be. But when events in Mia’s life force her to open her eyes to her reality, Jordan is the last thing she expected to find along her journey. A late night after hours of driving after fleeing Boston lands Mia at the local diner, looking for a place to stay, she comes face to face with a man that is everything she should run from. When Jordan sets his sights on Mia, he knows he should keep his distance but he can’t seem to get this girl out of his head. She is everything he tries to avoid. But there is something about her that makes him want to be a better person, to get her to open up to her. He’s falling hard for the girl that showed up with an expensive car, a bag full of clothes from Walmart and a shiner that makes his blood boil. Now I feel I have to at least mention a few things. First, this was not an easy read. Although the part that caused me to completely fall apart was minor compared to the whole story, it was not all hearts and flowers. Second, it’s a standalone novel, so no cliffhanger. Now, with that said be prepared to be taken on a roller-coaster of emotions from Samantha Towle. I was completely torn on where I stood with Mia at the start of this. I was so taken aback by her complacency with her life that I found it hard to really feel for her situation. I wanted to shake the hell out of her up until she hit the road. But that misstep in connecting with her was corrected as she finally opened her eyes to what life had to offer. Which, ultimately was not all men are like Oliver and Forbes. Enter Jordan. Don’t worry that this is all emotional heartache and sobbing – Jordan’s point of view was so comical. There was the perfect mix of humor laced through such an emotional read that it completely balanced out. For every heart stopping moment you had equal parts in laughs. He was funny, swoon-worthy and damn sexy. Since I don’t venture into the paranormal side of romance, all I’ve experienced from Samantha Towle was the Mighty Storm Series, which although it had its share of drama didn’t have the same type of tough topics tackled in Trouble. I was so surprised by the amount of emotions that were torn from me in this story, especially since I was so detached by the events of Mia’s life at the start of the story. I don’t know if it was her intention, but it as Mia went through her life in Boston, numb to what was going on – I was too. It wasn't until she started to experience living that her emotions broke through to me. A fantastic emotional read that had me glued to my Kindle from the first page to the last.

Blown away
Freaking loved this book! This story starts off a little on the darker side but the whole story does not play out this way. Samantha Towle takes you on an emotional journey about a girl who suffers abuse, sorrow, healing, love and the strength within. This story is told in dual POV and once you start you will not want to put this down. This is Mia's story she goes looking for answers but ends up finding so much more. Mia's life has been far from easy. She is finally free when her controlling abusive father passes away, relief is the only thing she feels. Finally being able to live she starts dating only to realise she is in a relationship with a man just like her father. Thinking this is how things were meant to be for her she settled to being with Forbes. Defeated, broken and damaged she takes off and leaves Boston. After finding information in her fathers office, she decides she has nothing left to loose and drives to Colorado to track down the mother. Mia's story is just heart breaking. Mia makes the long journey to Colorado and is pointed in the direction of a nice hotel. Walking into the reception Mia meets Jordan, the first time these two lay eyes on each other their is an instant attraction on both side. Jordan is a cocky, sexy tattooed self confessed man whore, he's up front but he owns it. He has his reasons... After a good talking to from his best friend Beth he decides he is not going to go there with Mia. He wants to, he is attracted to her but he puts his family business before he's need for a piece of ass. After spending time with Mia he can tell something has happened to her, he wants to be there for her, to be her friend. For the first time in his life he is feeling something for a women, he even opens up about his past. Jordan offers to help Mia track down her mother, the more time they spend together they end up developing a beautiful friendship. This friendship comes with a lot of sexual tension! Mia slowly opens up to Jordan about her past, he knows everything and he still wants her, her wants more then just one night with her. That's not him, he's never felt like this, he's never wanted more with a women. "When I'm around her, I actually feel alive in a way I haven't for a long time. And I'm going to spend every moment I have with her, making her see that none of what happened to her was her fault. I'm going to make her see herself the way I see her. Incredible. Strong. Beautiful" Jordan knows everything about Mia and what she has been through he still wants her and wants her to know she always has him. The twist you won't see coming threatens to pull about everything Mia and Jordan have built together. Watching Jordan and Mia together, going from friendship to more was beautiful. Jordan was perfect for Mia and exactly the type of man she needed, he changed her life. I loved these two together, the epilogue was just beautiful. I absolutely loved this book it will have you smiling laughing crying and swooning. It's definitely a must read.

excellent
Samantha towle, u can do no wrong! You are simply becoming my fave author. Trouble delivers a rapturing story following mia Monroe and her less than perfect life in the hands of her abusive father and boyfriend. She meets Jordan, who has bad boy written all over him. But Jordan might be exactly what mia needs to break free from her past. The characters were well developed and the story engaging with a twist. I love how detailed the story is and Samantha's style of writing with POV from both main characters. I enjoyed that fact that there was no filter to Samantha's writing and she simply wrote what would be running through our heads, I laughed so much at some of the dialogue. There were also a few tear cried when I had to relive some of Mia's past, but it was brilliantly handled. I also love how the book tried to incorporate music into conveying the feelings behind the story, it adds more depth of emotions. Marvellous book.

Amazing!
Wow! Simply Wow! I am so happy to have discovered this book thanks to the Amazon recommendations. The story is tough. The writing is amazing. You get to feel, discover slowly everything that is happening. There are no lengths, no annoying moments. Mia is ... well I don't really know how to describe her. Her life isn't easy; she is broken but still has her limits. She runs to find someone from her past, maybe a future in this person, because her real past is horrible. But what she was not prepared to meet is Jordan. Jordan is not what one would consider the perfect boyfriend. Well, he is not boyfriend material at all, but with Mia, well he rediscovers who he really is or rather who he might be... for her. The love story between the two is slow and beautiful. Amazing! The reader discovers two amazing characters by reading from both POVs. The words from the book jump of the pages and some really touch your heart. I wanted to hold Mia in my arms and to be held by Jordan. I simply loved the story and recommend it to everyone who likes loves stories where the heroes have lived through many difficult events. Who believe that live can repair broken hearts and shuttered trust. The sex scenes are smoking hot and great. The best of all: this is a standalone story, with no cliffhanger! I loved this book and hope you will as well. Enjoy the read MBTM

loved, loved, loved this book!
If you didn't get it from my review title I loved this book! This is now one of my all time favourite books. I read The Bringer by Samantha Towle last summer, and when I looked up her name and saw this book I thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did. Samantha did a really good job combining serious topics and romance into one book. I loved getting to see Mia and Jordan's relationship grow. I also love Dozer. He is now one of my favourite book dogs! He has such a cute banter with Jordan. Ah, Jordan. I love Jordan. He is a bad boy, but he can be a softy sometimes too. You need to read this book. It covers serious topics, a great dog, some humorous lines, and a great romance that is one of the best I've read in a long time. You will love reading Mia and Jordan's love story.
