From the Manufacturer The Two is a variation on NHT's Absolute Zero model with deeper bass extension and higher power handling. Using a 6.5" woofer in a larger enclosure than the Absolute Zero, the Two produces a big room-filling sound with no loss of detail. Easily wall mountable using a pair of rear panel threaded inserts, the Classic Two adds new driver and cabinet technologies to reduce distortion and improve dispersion for a more articulate, more musical listening experience. A premium bookshelf design offering clean midrange and low distortion Buying any NHT speaker means you care about getting the best speaker value for your hard earned money. It means and you care about quality craftsmanship and high-end performance. It means you’re ready to join the family of fanatics who love music, movies and the best gear that produces them. Welcome to the club--Now Hear This! The Classic Two produces big room-filling sound with no loss of detail Acoustic Suspension in a 2-Way Speaker DesignThe Classic Two is a premium 2-way, acoustic suspension bookshelf speaker design. No ports or holes. Like all Classic Series speakers, it uses air, nature's most perfect spring, to control the woofer motion--the reason for its clean midrange and low distortion. Its driver compliment is a custom-designed 6.5" woofer and the same tweeter assembly used in the Absolute Zero: a remarkable 1" ferro-fluid cooled neodymium magnet marvel of engineering and production. The Classic Two uses a carefully engineered 2nd-order crossover to divide the frequencies between the woofer and tweeter.Highly Rigid Cabinet for Reduced ResonancesLike the Absolute Zero on which the Two is modeled, the Classic Two enclosure is made with ¾" high-density fiberboard, re-enforced in several internal locations to eliminate any mechanical resonances. It’s finished with 2 primer layers, 7 color coats and 2 clear coats of black or white paint, hand-rubbed between coats.Cabinets Designed for Easy MountingIf you need to wall or ceiling mount the Classic Twos, the inserts on the back are specifically made to accommodate the Omnimount 20.0 wall mount and Omnimount 20.0 ceiling mount. They are also perfectly suited to conventional speaker stands. If you don't need to mount your speakers, the Twos come with user-applied aluminum and butyl rubber feet.Optional AccessoriesAdding a Subwoofer: Although a subwoofer like the NHT Classic B-10d or B-12d is always recommended for home theater use, the Two has enough bass that a subwoofer is optional for most music playback in small to medium size rooms.Mixing and Matching: Building a home theater system? All NHT speakers are designed and voiced with the same design goals so you have the freedom to use any of NHT's Classic Series center channel speakers. That said, the Classic TwoC center channel speaker (sold separately) is recommended as the best match. Rear speakers? Again, a perfect match would be more Classic Twos for surround and back channels but many people opt for the Classic Absolute Zero's in Black or White because of their compact size. Thanks to voice-matching across the line, there are many choices to create the perfect NHT home theater for you. They all sound great together. I would think these would be good ...
I am using these as rear channel speakers with two NHT Four Tower speakers, a ThreeC center channel speaker and a B-12 subwoofer. They all sound great together. I would think these would be good speakers for front channel speakers for a small room. But the Classic Three would be my choice if they were going to be my main speakers- assuming the $120 more per speaker was not an issue.

Decent value for the $.
Not the greatest speaker I have listened to but good enough for the money. I really wanted the "3" but the price put it a little out of my reach right now.

Would recommend these to any one looking for a two way ...
Can't say enough about these speakers. I had a size limitation on where I could locate a speaker and was a little concerned about the sound I could get from these speakers. No concerns was so ever after I first fired them up. Very impressed. Would recommend these to any one looking for a two way speaker of any size.

Bananas!
I've had these for about six months. They are so beautiful sounding I bought the Verve sub and Classic 2 center speaker to go with it. Before I bought the center speaker I had a Klipsch center speaker. I tried everything but it never sounded right (flat). I got the NHT center thinking I'd return it if I got the same results. I didn't. NHT speaker are.....

Beautiful sound!
Love my NHT Classic Twos. Just to set expectations, you do need to get subwoofers to have a good system, but I think this is a great system for a medium room. I am using them as front speakers, and when we move to a (much) bigger place, they will become rear speakers.

NHT Classic 2 FTW
I bought these years ago for my studio. I had researched every reference bookshelf, powered monitor, computer speaker setup that was for sale for the most natural neutral detailed sounding reference quality speaker. Couldn't find anything worth buying. I remembered way back about a review I had read years earlier about the NHT being the best bookshelf speaker under $1K. Re-read the current reviews in all the internet. So I saved up and took the plunge. Never regretted it to this day. I need a speaker that sounds very neutral for studio mixing, and these are the most neutral and natural sounding bookshelf/satellites speakers out there. No coloration, no bias or boost in any frequency with nano detail and precision and depth. Huge soundstage is almost holographic- as I could hear things behind me with only two of these...I recently bought a reference stereo receiver Harmon Kardon 3490 from Amazon, (never liked HK products before) and when I hooked these Classic Two's up to it, I started hearing things in my music I had never heard there before. I was looking behind me because the soundstage and imaging was so good I actually thought something was behind me enough to look. These Classic Two pair of bookshelf speakers have a "surround sound" effect of wide soundstage and detail and clarity you can't get with any other bookshelf speaker I have heard on the planet. My professional career has went from designing and installing custom studios to installing custom home theaters upwards of $200,000.00 and have not experienced this level of neutral natural definition and detail before! I have heard just about everything on the market, being in the industry; the PSB, Martin Logan, Legacy, Genesis, Jamo, Meridian, Mirage, KEF, B&W, Paradigm, Klipch, Bose, Polk, Krell, Sony, Tannoy, Sunfire, Bang & Olusfen, Definitive Technology, and more than I can remember. These are the most natural, clean, detailed, bookshelf/satellite's in the world next to the Classic Three. I also have NEVER been a fan of Harmon Kardon products, but this receiver has made a believer out of me, that is saying something if you knew me. I would highly recommend this receiver with these speakers for any audiophile out there. Make sure you have good cables- GLS Audio 12 AWG speaker wire and monster optical toslink connections make a big difference. I had a Pioneer Elite 660w 6.1 THX receiver with the Classic Two's and they sounded boring. I can't believe how much more vibrant, detailed, defined and alive the HK sounded over the more expensive Pioneer. Go read my review of it.With a great subwoofer like Velodyne or the third gen Sunfire products, this setup would be magical. Oh, side note, these need a good 300hr break in as well as the receiver to sound like they are going to.

Never heard of NHT before but now I'm hooked
I use these as main speakers for music and home theatre. Even after reading glowing reviews of the NHTs, they exceed my expectations for such a small two-way system. The aluminium dome tweeters are free of the ringing that often plagues metal domes, the bass response and quality is extraordinary for speakers this size, and the imaging is very good. They do need to be burnt in for 50 hours minimum to start sounding like they should, and the bass continues to improve after that. And more important than all these things, they sound really great - detailed and clear without being bright, a touch of warmth without being mushy, and good balance across the sound spectrum. I think there may be a bit of a peak in the upper bass register, but that could be my room acoustics. Otherwise the bass is very clean. I only add a subwoofer for the occasional much louder listening, and action movies. Of course they are no match for quality floorstanders but they beat anything I've heard in their size and in their price range regardless of size. PS you need to power them with at least 100 watts RMS per channel. I tried them with a lower powered amp and they don't open up without a bit of grunt behind them.
