Foot switches work great. Some basic tools and know-how are all that's required to knock out this upgrade in about 20 minutes. Some helpful tools would be wire strippers, heat shrink, electrical tape, and a tool to check resistance to make sure it's safe before plugging it in. No instructions are included but if you really need them you can look online.

I'm starting to use these all over the house: lights, fans, audio equipment... Less than 5 min to install. Still, if I weren't so lazy, I'd probably install even more of them.

No instructions. Wires connect to switch with push in connectors. This is NOT OK for stranded wire. You will NOT be able to push them in. Your will have to make the strands stiff by soldering the stripped ends. If you don't know how to do all this, spend a little more and get a higher quality product. BTW if the wires have color, run the black one through the switch, the other wire(s) around.

This pack of two is a useless product,comes with no instructions,plus is NON REFUNDABLE.The clear switch housing,which when opened,as printed on the clear housing, contains two metal clips that can not be reinserted,rendering this switch DOA. This is an awesome replacement to the factory installed switch!! I had the old one off already new one on in less than 10 mins!!

The switch itself is plastic, but it seems fairly sturdy. Since two came together, I have a spare. It works perfectly for what I needed, which is to turn the lights on and off inside a clock without having to bend down.Update 12/14/2019: One switch broke after one year, so I installed the second one. Did not switch the lamp more than 200-300 times during the year. However; I ordered more to keep as spares, because when the switch is working, it works well.Update 3/28/2020: I am now on my third switch. The mechanism that the switch contains is very similar to that of a clicky ball-point pen, but the plastic that is used in these is brittle and breaks after a short time. The plastic in ball-point pens' mechanism lasts almost forever. The last one of these switches lasted only a month before the switch broke.

This was a direct replacement for a foot light switch that stopped functioning due to the button/spring mechanism breaking down over time. There is already instructions on the installation for this posted by another reviewer (THANKS!) but the best prep work you can do is actually tin the wires that you need to put into this button switch ahead of time. This will allow you to push them wires into the switch cleanly and let it catch inside properly the first time around.Otherwise, solid product that replaced the same type of footswitch and really, an almost 1:1 direct replacement for the old broken one that comes with many of the cheaper floorstanding lamps you get from Home Depot/Lowes/Target/etc.

Did the job - as my old switch quit working - no instructions with it, but it's pretty self-explanatory - especially if you watch how the one that you are replacing was installed before you remove it.
