Moda BELLA SOLIDS SNOW Layer Cake 10" Fabric Quilting Squares 9900LC-11

It’s good fabric (bought for hand embroidery rather than quilting or machine use).I bought this and another popular brand layer cake, both 100% quilting cotton 10” square layer cakes in the color “snow” with the intention of comparing under a macro lens to make a decision.They are very very similar fabrics. However, as you may be able to see in the photos, there are two differences when comparing side-by-side:1. This is definitely a bit darker/warmer/more classically beige. Right next to each other, the other brand looks very bright white, but in person they’re both definitely off-white compared to a sheet of printer paper. This one is ever-so-slightly warmer than a standard unbleached muslin from JoAnn.2. Although the weave is almost identical between the two (as you can see), the Bella threads are less plump, so the weave is actually a little looser. This also means it’s a little more see-through (holding it up to the window, I could see the shape of the buildings outside, but with the other, I couldn’t see much of anything). Because of this, it’s more prone to fraying at the edges.The quality difference is so slight that either one would work for most anyone, unless you’re looking at it through a macro lens. But, don’t get both. I was intending to keep both assuming the colors were close enough, but have to return this one due to the other color better fitting my needs.So, if you prefer working with a teensy bit looser weave & want a creamy, beigey off-white, this will work fantastically for you. I like Missouri Star quilt Company patterns whenmaking quilts and many of their patterns are using layer cakes. These blocks make the quilt making very easy!

Quality of material is excellent

Pretty yellow, which based on the name makes me laugh. I wanted an off white, this is not it. This is a yellow cream. Otherwise, it's Moda quality and is fine if the color is what you want.
