If you're going away then you'll need these to automatically water your plants!
Bought these as we were preparing to go on a long vacation. Thought of everything except who will be looking after our our plants, so a quick search on Amazon resulted in me buying these 'watering gadgets'. A pack of these comes with 3 watering spikes. Instructions are provided but can be slightly tricky to understand, but you'll understand how they work when you start using them. The idea is you use an plastic bottle, cut the bottom off, and stick it into the spike. Then fill the bottle with water and you can adjust the dripping speed by a side valve attached on the spike. Works well but I had to have a few go's to make sure bottle would stay upright and wouldn't topple over.

Simple, easy to use watering system for your plants! And the ever forgetful.
If you're going away for any amount of time or, like me, just tend to forget to water plants when, ahem, you really should be, then these a simple and cheap to do it.Put a used bottle, full of water, in the top, turn the tap on the side and it the water comes out from an occasional drip to a full gush. Stick it in the soil and forget it (until the water runs out, of course). For those large bottles that topple over, they've even enclosed some little "legs" that help to keep it upright.Brightly coloured, you can mix and match the 3 components that make up each, as you get 6 of everything. It's delivered in a simple plastic bag with a small instruction booklet inside. Instructions are a bad translation so take some thought to work out but, I guess, it's not rocket science (although that upturned bottle sitting on a stalk may look like it at times). It's a simple, plastic solution that does the job nicely. The instructions could do with some finessing and the presentation won't win prizes but, at the end of day, it's cheap-as-chips. Recommended.

works well. great value for money
Ive bought much more expensive self watering spikes before, but the design of these is much better. Previously the spikes I've used had a hole in the bottom which let the water out too fast. these have a regulating screw and it advises that you leave a 45 sec gap between drips for a 10 day water delivery. I found that they fit easily in to large ribena bottles ( I like these as they are made of thick plastic) and they also fit in to the lemonade 2l bottles, although not as easily as they are less robust and the ends do need pushing in to seal. However, it fit both bottles well without leakage. the drip was regular and there is a stabilising arm which stops the bottle from falling over ( a neat little addition). Ive been monitoring the water delivery over the last few days and it is working well. Ideal if you want to go a way for a week and leave your plants unattended. It's worth doing a trail run though first so you get the drip rate right. Over all , I'm really happy with my purchase and would definitely consider buying more.

neat little watering system
Bought these for my plant pots that are sat in the sun all day and keep drying up. its difficult keeping them watered when your not always at home.these came in two different colours (Orange and Green) but they all work the same. they easily clip together with no problems, and they do fit a wide range of plastic bottles, but be careful not to use the largest containers you can find as they struggled to handle the weight from a full 2 litre bottle. it can handle a 1 litre bottle no problems, but the 1.5-2 litres were a little too heavy and kept falling over. Each device has a screw thread tap so its easy to adjust the flow, although it takes few days to get the flow right for the plant pot/bottle used. i use a 750ml bottle and have a drip timed at one every 2 seconds, which lasts about 36 hours. Also dont push them too hard onto the bottle or they will go straight through into the bottle, as they dont have a screw fit for the bottle end, just push fit.

Good idea for plants when away, well executed.
These watering spikes are a good idea to help get over the issue of keeping plants watered when you're away on holiday. Simply fill an empty soft drinks bottle with water, attach to the spike and push it into the soil/compost in the pot. There are 2 spike types, one that has a dripper tap on the side and the other has a small hole in the taper, which allow a degree of control over how quickly the water is delivered to the plant. For hanging baskets or other difficult to access planters/pots, you can cut the bottom off the bottle and use it as a handy funnel/reservoir for watering. Both types of spike have a clip on steady to provide a bit of extra support to prevent the assembly tipping over.I would recommend these to anyone that worries about their plants when away.

Simple & Effective
I spend quite a lot of time out of my office and I wanted to ensure that my plants were watered during these trips as some of the team forget to water. The package arrived and initially I was not impressed. However after some further study and playing I get it. You need an old water bottle as the resevoir and off you go. I have set 4 of the spikes up this afternoon and it was really easy. The detachable stand is a really good idea considering the weight of the bottle and I think I have the release tap at the right setting. This is a really good, cost efficient way of making sure your treasured plants don't get overlooked. Will be interesting to see in the next days how long the reservoir lasts and if the setting is correct. Don't underestimate this little gadget as it is a great solution.

Water away !
There are sometimes when I forget to water my indoor plants, and was looking to get some sort of drip system. Rather than over complicating a simple job, this is all that you actually need. The instructions are simple, but can take some time to get your head around it. The packs comes in 3. I have set it up on the 3 pots, and they seem to be working fine. Not convinced if kids or (if outdoors - wind), will knock it down. But thats the nature of this design. I would recommend to have just one big hole the size of 1 inch on the bottle bottom. This is so that filling it up will be easier, once the system is installed. But so far so good.
