Highpoint Miniature Barrel Hinges

My son made a small fly box for fly fishing. They worked perfectly.

Product was fine, it would have been cheaper and faster to place the hinges in an envelope.

As advertise, works well but to early to comment on durability arrived as promised.

These are well made and the price is right; but the installation is anything but easy, and using a 5mm bit leaves the hole a tad big. You need to use your table saw, or as I did, a router, to cut a 45 degree angle on the box and the door or lid - otherwise the door or lid won't open. Sounds easy, but the 45 degree cut needs to be exact - right through the middle of the hole you drilled to accept the hinge. Not impossible, but it does take a bit of "testing." As for the 5mm hole - try a 3/16" bit and the hinges will fit snug, add just a touch of glue and you will have a very secure hinge. The 4 stars instead of 5 comes from the instructions to use a 5mm bit.

I ordered these and was disappointed to see how small they were. They do work well, but I was seeking somewhat larger items. They are a good buy for small boxes of items.

7 out of ten of these hinges did not move freely.Some were VERY TIGHT. I was given instructions on how to free them up but damaged and broke some during the process. I ended up driving to a "Woodcraft Store" a few towns away. Purchased a similar 5mm barrel hinge made by a different manufacturer. Every one of them works perfectly.

I feel some what to blame. You get what you pay for! A 5mm hinge is so small that any misalignment and it just won't work. I find the whole lot of 10 are to stiff to use as I needed. They will not move with out a firm grip, even then they will probably break out. 5mm is a little larger then 3/16ths, so if they do not easily open and closed they will ruin a nice wood project. I will return and find a better quality item.Thanks for Amazon and their return policy.

Clean, smooth, and functioned exactly as advertised. Worked perfectly in the small boxes I made.
