Rodak's Hematology: Clinical Principles and Applications, 5e

Shame on Amazon and Rodak's technology team
I have all of my text books on kindle (this semester as well as previous ones). This by far is the worst digital textbook I have come across. First, there is no quick reference chart for all of the values at the beginning (or end) of the book--as the hard copy has. Second, when you need to go to a specific page--you have to search by location, not page numbers (anytime you input a pg. no. it says it can not be found); I had to search by index--which by the way has "B" in front of L! Third, the "free" pdf reads and functions better than this?!? and is very glitchy. You can't zoom on it, even on your phone or iPad. Five, it does not list page number, chapter number, or title of chapter at the top (or bottom) of any of the pages. Gosh, my back pays a price for carrying books but I have to make an exception here. I'm trying to change this ebook for a hard copy, or use the "free" pdf that worked better for me.

Overwhelming amount of technical information
I'm about to finish a very intense course on Hematology. We covered every chapter in this book with the exception of the first 5 as we were expected to already know that. Having had zero background in Hematology, I definitely found the book to be interesting but the amount of information is overwhelming. I have had serious problems with retention given the sheer amount of information I've been expected to memorize, retain, and utilize along with several other classes of a similar nature all at once. This is not a good beginner's guide to hematology, this is the type of book that will be great for studying for the boards but it's a doozy. I will be STOKED to move on to new classes that don't involve looking at this book anymore. Good luck to the rest of my fellow CLS students!

as deep as McKenzie but more assessible
Wow, just the instrumentation chapter pays for the book. I have Harmening and McKenzie and Williams and Hoffman’s hematology tomes. But I LOVE this one. I even bought the electronic version because even thought textbook charts usually...aren’t so good, the prose is so interesting. If you want to take/pass the ASCP SH exam do this 1) study this book, 2) get membership—often selling for $20!— on DrNajeeblectures ;and listen thoroughly to the lectures on heme and coag. You will fall in love with hematology.
