Tonerider TRT3SET Telecaster Pickup Set

These pickups were to replace the factory set in a 2011 Rosewood light Telecaster. The original pickups left the guitar sounding quite generic and unexciting. I hoped these would be more characterful. The set arrives well packed in transparent plastic box complete with all screws and wiring instructions. Compared to the the Fender pickups, these appear better made and from higher quality materials. I was in fact shocked by how 'cheap' the Fender pickups looked. Fitting was no problem, although you do have to use the provided screws for the neck pickup as its holes are smaller than the Fender's. Once auditioned, its plain this set are higher output (without being brash) and have far more low-mid character. They are marketed as a blues set and I feel thats a good description. They suit blues/rock overdrive.

These are great, no complaints with these. Seem balanced and not noisy. If you use these in series with each other the sound is fantastic. I find I don't like the two in parallel after hearing them in series. I do not know how you could wire it, but I would have them as single pickups and in series on a three way switch. I wouldn't bother with the parallel configuration and it would switch more easily. With CTS pots and orang caps these worked out a bargain.

Put these in my Squier Affinity Tele, these pickups have made it a real problem to put the guitar down now. Took the guitar to a completely different planet, it's my go to guitar now.
