RCBS Hole Deburring Tool

I have reamed over 1000 - 308 with absolutely no problems. Excellent results. It is best if you have the tooling to do it, a simple belt sander will work, but be advised that piece of brass is going to get really hot. Sand away or machine and open space just above the head approximately a quarter inch up away from the head so that you can see the primer pocket as your test piece. Refer to photos below. I have found what works best is to install the deeper in tool on a Franklin arsenal prep center or a likewise tool, this gives shoot very consistent results. I find there is a marked improvement in consistent burn and accuracy in the new Machine completed cartridges. How fun, be safe.

Have a love hate relationship with this thing. I hated it when I first got it. The pilot was slightly too large and would stick in the mouths of the cases. However, I took the arbor out of the handle with the pilot still attached and secured, stuck it in my drill press and used sand paper to take a couple thousandths off the portion that goes into the case mouth. It's like a different tool, works great. In hind sight I would buy a 'universal' style deburring tool that has the cone shaped pilot for all calibers, just to make life easier.The cutting tool itself works perfectly as advertised, it puts a nice chamfer on the flash hole inside the case and deburrs at the same time using very little pressure. Once I modified the pilot it slips into the case nicely and centers almost immediately. If you are someone who uniforms their flash holes with a drill or even enlarges them, this is a necessary tool to get a nice smooth and chamfered flash hole so that your powder ignites consistently and repeatably.

The tool is exactly what I expected and seems well made. The depth rides off of the top lip opening of the shell. That seems to be the way all of the competitors tools work? I trimmed my shells before using this in order to make things more consistent. I don't yet know how consistent different lots/brands of shells will be with respect to depthI think that I might modify the tool so that the depth of cut rides off of the inside bottom of the shell. I think that that MIGHT do what I want better. I think that I only want to take off (chamfer) the smallest amount off of the edge of the hole. In other words I want to take off any burrs and not make a significant chamfer. This is new to me so maybe I am wrong?

I’m really not satisfied, it doesn’t go through the flash hole, it just bevels the inside of the case. If it extended through the hole it would do the job as advertised, so in my opinion it was a waste of money. I also bought one that was caliber specific which really doesn’t help it line up. It seems made well and the point is sharp but it still doesn’t clean out burrs inside the flash hole. I hope this helps someone save their money.

I'll just mention that this tool can be disassembled and has the correct threading on the rod (8/32, I think) to fit onto the various prep centers, like Lyman, for example. Makes it very convenient.

works great for deburring 223 casings, very happy with it. took a little adjustment to get the depth set and it was good to go. the shaft unscrews from the handle, I chucked it up in my cordless drill and can process cases very quickly

This tool works very well. I have the depth set to just create a very slight chamfer inside the case. Some cases I get nothing, but others, a lot of brass comes out, meaning that ignition of the powder may have been hampered by burrs in the case. It also works well chucked up in a cordless drill.

The tool came bent. I tried to straighten it and it broke. Sent it back...looking at a sinclair ot 21st century shooting debut tool
