Dr. Stevens describes the core source of human fear--inner dragons that consume power through greed, self-deprecation, arrogance, impatience, martyrdom, self-destruction, and just plain stubbornness. Review: HIGHLY recommend! Best self-help book ever - This book is possibly THE most helpful book i have read to date. I felt I needed to know WHY i was having certain difficulties. I recognized my self-destructive tendencies for example, but i couldnt figure out WHY i was engaging them, what was causing it ?! This book explains why you have certain issues [in great depth and clarity] and it also tells you precisely how to OVERCOME those issues. It has everything you could need in a self-help book. Some just tell you what is wrong and vaguely tell you how to overcome it. Not this book. I also love the imagery he uses to explain these issues. ("dragons"). Literally, now whenever i get an urge to do something bad, or think a cruel thought, i recognize it as my dragon! and i picture a literal dragon saying it. This keeps it separate from me; it is not ME doing those things. So i can instantly dismiss it, and not be tempted by it. (Does that make sense? ) i HIGHLY recommend getting a pen and notebook with you as you first read through this. I had several revelations and thoughts that i wanted to write down and reflect on further. I also wanted to write down his excellent points so i wouldnt forget them. This book is 10/10 and i wish i could thank the author personally. These issues are incredibly difficult and i felt really lost, not knowing why i was so drawn to certain things. Thank you Mr. Stevens! Review: EXCELLENT! - Although the basic premise on which this book is based is what is known as the "chief feature" from the Messages from Michael book, I think Stevens has done a brilliant job of cutting out any psychobabble as well as any NewAge hippie-ism and purely focussed on the practical, usable, efficient methods of dealing with that aspect of our personality which most affects us in a negative fashion. It may seem simplistic and yet the more I look at people, the more obvious it becomes that they are in the grip of one of the seven types of dragons (or rather one of the pairs of dragons) and it is truly the only think limiting them from showing their true potential through. The history of how these dragons are formed is particularly useful I think in that it not only shows you how you became the way you are but also highlights dangers you may encounter as a parent and hopefully how to avoid creating very pronounced dragons in your own children. An excellent book. I am normally very critical of any self-help type book, but this one really does produce results (of course you have to apply the principles, but that's up to you, not the author!)

Being more successful and tapping into more energy for life are the results of using the material in this book.
"Transforming Your Dragons" describes in great detail the seven personality patterns that keep us from living fully and successfully (aptly called personality "dragons"). Jose Stevens provides overviews, detailed descriptions of how they develop and operate, checklists and exercises that can help anyone be more effective, more successful and live a happier life. I have used this book until it's dog-eared for myself, used the many tools from the book and Jose's workshops with clients, and have recommended it to countless numbers of people. The dragon tools have helped me immeasurablly to be more successful in business. By learning the fear patterns (my own and those of others), I am able to know when others are operating from their dragons and change my approach to allow them to be themselves, reduce their fear of me and my ideas, and in the end, I can be more successful and have more win/win situations. It has also helped me to be a better person by knowing my own dragons, being able to feel when they are at work, and work to tame them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in self growth, as well as anyone who must negotiate in business or personal life to get things done.

Perfect metaphor for the Fear dragons in all of us.
I first read this book almost two decades ago. It helped me, and continues to help me understand where and why my fear flares up the way it does. Many people live their entire lives in the immature stage, strangled by the constant fear that fights inside all of us like a dragon. But, instead of trying to slay the dragon, we need to transform our dragons into our personal power. If you are at all curious what fear is holding you back from living the life you desire, check out this book.

Fear not
Seems for someone who wishes to really dive deep into the darker side of our walks and great tools and ways of looking at things.

Very helpful book!
This book has helped me to discover what the major obstacle to my happiness (my dragon) is: ARROGANCE. My friends tell me they don't see me as arrogant at all. I explain to them that my dragon only shows up when people push my buttons. I take on a DON'T MESS WITH ME attitude with those that try to take advantage of my kindness. This takes them aback since I am generally so nice. Lately, I have been trying to notice the signs that my dragon is taking charge. It is not easy for me to give up my dragon. I feel that it is there to defend me against attackers and abusers and to make me look less vulnerable. I have to work on developing further my diplomatic skills when it comes to dealing with difficult people. This book is a great tool to help people know themselves better. I recommend it.

Good book
Very good book for me it had good information that resonates with me and why I sometimes act the way I do. I actually applied one of the exercises to help me break out of one of the dragons. My suggestion would be that anyone who purchases this book take their time and allow yourself to to be healed from your inner dragon's.

A simplified way of self-examination
This is a great theory of self examination. A simplified way where you can look at yourself in the dragons and begin to understand your issues and how to go about working with them. In my busy world of work, study, balancing finances this was a good solution to understand my past, why my emotions are out of control and how to capture and work with them. Turning the dragons around and making them work for me. There are 7 dragons to learn from and 7 levels of maturity.

Amazing book to work on yourself.
This is so amazing!!! I recommend this in all my classes for people who would like to work on themselves. This book has such in-depth research about our personalities that it can be included in Psychology syllabus. Amazingly helpful. It changed the way I look at my own behaviours and brought compassion for others.

Insightful and amusing
This book provides deep insight into why we continue to behave in dysfunctional ways. Using the metaphor of dragons it remains light-hearted and amusing. I have learned a lot about myself and others through this book (which was recommended to me by a Russian friend).

Enlightening
If you’re in a hole and trying to work out ‘what am I all about’ then read this book. I’ve read all the self help books out there and this is the only one that got me back on track and made me understand who I am. I’m writing this review 10 years after I first read it when I was in a very dark place. I can’t explain how, but it made me understand who I am.

Great book do not be fooled about dragons as a tool
This book is helpfull to find how people develop in time and to know where you are yourself in life. All phases are recognizable also at other people and this is good to know to approach everyone the best possible way and reduce misunderstandings. The dragons are a metafore just a tool maybe a bit strange but just see through that remarkable analogy and you”ll see the true worthiness of this book.
