The lighter arrived on Monday (scratched, mind you. So much for giftable). On Saturday already the spark igniter stopped working, and the only option to further use it was having a candle lit at all times nearby in order to ignite the gas. However, since I am not Florence Nightingale, it quickly found itself in the trash bin.Oh, and the flow of gas is also unstable, and fluctuates upon itself in volume, this changing the strength of the flame constantly, so in other words even if the igniter was working fine it's still far far away from being a 5 star item.

Having read the instructions and made sure the lighter was completely discharged first, it still proved incredibly difficult to get it to light to the point that I discharged the first fill and tried again. I Still couldn't get the thing to light and left it to settle for the evening with a view to returning it. Thats cost it a star on useability. I then had one last ditch attempt and it worked flawlessly and has done ever since for the last couple of months - go figure!It is more of a gas torch than a lighter but it is brilliant and lighting candles and firelighters which is why I got it. It is a really solid weighty lighter. My only gripe - In this day and age of excessive packaging, I don't get the need for the presentation box (which is mirrors the build quality of the lighter). I would have been happy if it turned up in a suitably padded jiffy bag. But maybe that's just me.The issue with getting it to let has never re-occurred, even while refilling from empty and using the same can of Clipper butane gas. Overall, I'm really pleased with it.

I've been using this to light candles and a quick way to melt hot glue and wires.Originally I found this to be annoying, it didn't light consistently and took an average of three attempts to actually light the gas. Today I made a slight adjustment to the wire or such and bent it slightly to the left which made it more centred and now six of six attempts to light it were successful.

First off, this makes a great gift as it comes in a nice presentation case which makes it look that much better from the off-set. It feels very well made and heavy in the hand and provides a great flame. A smart little touch on it is the stand, if it has been burning for a while and you are concerned about it being too hot on a surface, just flip the stand out to rest it away from the surface to cool. Those complaining about an uneven flame really should consider two things - lighter gas varies in quality vastly, and also the instructions are quite clear about leaving the gas to settle for a time before use. Personally I think its very good value, looks and feels good and functions very well indeed.

Replaced a lighter that had given us many years of good service. Using it for gas cooker and candles. Very stylish comfortable and easy to use . Can be ok even if hands are moist, fairly non slip. Would recommend has many potential functions. Compared to current replacements to my previous model that are very lightweight and generally flimsy this lighter is strong and durable. Uses gas relatively quickly but can be adjusted.

It feels quite solid and the weight suggests a quality product. I was a bit unsure of its lighting reliability at first but this improved after settling (as mentioned in the instruction leaflet), On the current settings, it lights within two clicks to produce a steady strong flame. Early days, but I quite like it.

I wanted a lighter to use to light my wood burner and this looked like it would do the job. It's an excellent flame jet light that is a good size, feels well made and has enough capacity in the fuel tank to last a long time between refills. I wouldn't call it pocket sized and wouldn't take it out as a cigarette lighter but works perfectly as an at home lighter for candles, wood fires, bbqs and cigars.
