Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof Waterproofing

I have a 3 year old pair of 5.11 tactical boots I wear for work around water all summer long. They lost their ability to repel water and they STUNK lol. I soaked them in a mixture of peroxide, baking soda and dish soap (great for removing skunk smell from dogs), scrubbed then rinsed them thoroughly. I put them on a boot dryer for three days. Per the instructions I ran them under the faucet to get them wet prior to applying the waterproofing on the exterior. I let them sit for a few days to dry naturally and they’re waterproof again, look great and don’t stink anymore! Great product! Saved me $240 for a new pair of boots. Very cost effective alternative to new boots since my 5.11’s are still in great shape

Product is great. The bottle though loves to loosen. Make sure to check for tightness always before shaking to mix.

Used on athletic shoes. After applying and allowing to fully dry I walked through some heavy dew in grass and water seemed to bead up and my feet did not get wet. As far as how durable it is or how often you need to reapply remains to be seen. I would suggest if you are getting the shoes wet on a regular basis I would tend to reapply often.

Great product! I use this on my sneakers and on my leather shoes for water repellents and they work great. I applied two coats to my Nike sneakers and two coats to my Beckett Simon and shoes and the water just beads off does not discolor the leather and does not discolor the sneakers. Great product and there's plenty enough to spray at least four or five more pairs

Nikwax fabric and leather water proofing is so easy to use, spray it on, wait 2 minutes, then wipe it off and let dry. It really didn’t affect the color of any of my shoes. So far dry feet. Another quality product from Nikwax.

Applied to new pair of boots. I thought the instructions to apply to a wet surface was a bit odd but after checking with Chat GPT I followed the instructions to apply to a clean wet surface. First thing i noticed was that after the 5 minute wait period where you dry off the excess, a lot of the black polish that had been applied at the shoe factory came off, and the boots went from a shinny to a very dull color. While on vacation using these waterproofed boots it did not seem to really repell that much water, so in summary I think I would have been a lot better just not usning the product

I have several pairs of shoes that are either a fabric or a suede. So far, this has never caused any discoloration or change in color on any color or shade, and it works. Depending on how often I've worn the shoes in wet weather, I reapply about every Fall or late summer. I live in the CO mountains; we have extended periods in spring and Fall with mud - a lot of mud (it's much better than sidewalks and paved streets). So, shoes need to be good with mud and wet, including snow. I started using this brand on Inkka's shoes, because they're a combo of a heavy fabric with dyes of varied colors, and suede and it's great. It's easy to use. I brush off the shoe or lightly clean it first, so all dirt and dust are off before applying. I think as long as you follow the directions, you're good. I dislike this task, though it takes minutes (it does take a bit to dry, I don't know how long because I leave them out on the deck about half a day - I don't think it takes that entire time to dry). Besides, depending on where you live, there is another benefit; here, in the night there are a lot of wandering creatures and in the past when I've left shoes with leather outside on the deck, animals will pick them up and carry them off. With the spray on them, they don't do that but now I try to remember to bring them inside before nightfall. :)

I purchased Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof Waterproofing a week ago for my boots. I live in New England and we have had a few bad storms lately. I am a home owner with a good sized driveway and have to shovel all the snow we have had. My boots have stayed completely dry after using Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof Waterproofing spray. This past snow storm we had was 24 inches it took me a few hours to shovel my driveway but my boots stayed completely dry. In the photos attached are my boots after I came in after shoveling for hours. I 100% recommend Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof Waterproofing to anyone looking to keep there boots or shoes dry. 10/10 highly recommend!!!!!!

I used the waterproof-spray for my hiking boots and I’m really happy with how it worked — after spraying it they kept water out even when I walked through damp grass. It felt easy to use and the boots didn’t lose breathability, which was great. One small thing though: the spray mist was a bit fine and I had to make sure I covered every part carefully or some spots still soaked in a little. Overall it’s a good product and I’d recommend it if you want to keep your shoes dry.

This spray waterproofing product works as it should. Have had no issues with wet socks, feet...after using this spray on footwear. No intense/weird smell. Easy to apply. I spray a thin layer to tops, bottoms, sides of shoes and then air dry thoroughly outside.👟👡👢👠👞 Have used on various types of shoe materials, no issues to date. A bit pricey at $17 for such a small bottle; one star off for that. Otherwise, all good and would reorder when needed.😊
